I currently have a £67,000 interest-only mortgage with Northern Rock, which has reverted to SVR, and an ISA-based mortgage plan with Legal & General, currently worth £8,133. The combined monthly payment is eating into my budget, so I've been looking at my options. I've consulted a whole-of-market mortgage advisor, and they…

Mortgage Overpayments
My partner and I took out a 2yr fixed rate interest only mortgage in Aug 07 on a house valued at £270,000 and only paid a 5% deposit (£13,500). The mortgage allows us to make overpayments each month. The idea was that after 2yrs house prices would rise and we would have more equity with which to re mortgage. But obv due to…

Renegotiating an existing mortgage?
We have an interest-only mortagage on a property which has considerably dropped in price since the last deal was agreed in 2006. It is not up for renewal until 2011 but, are the lenders (Bristol and West) likely to get a bit difficult when we try to renew? Originally it was based on an 80% LTV but now it would be in the…

Will 'competition' between lenders bring down rates?
Can we expect the ripple effect to take rates down now that a fair sized caucus of lenders have reduced... or, when the chips are really down such as in the current circumstances, is 'competition' really a right-winger's pipe dream?

Can anybody help with working out fees?
