Mortgages for small businesses
In July 2004 my partner and I decided open a hitherto disused shop which was in the ground floor of our house. We contacted our Business Bank Manager at Nat West who informed us that we would need a Commercial Mortgage (our mortgage company GMAC could not provide a commercial mortgage). It took our Business manager 9…

Putting mortgage in single name only.
Hello. My wife and I hold a joint mortgage with nationwide - she is 60 and I am 52. We wish to put the mortgage in her name solely, so that when she is 65, she can opt for a "home reversion" as we have no dependants or family to squabble over our estate. Would this be a straightforward undertaking? Thankyou in advance.

Hi there My boyfriend and I applied for a mortgage in November of last year but unfortunately - due to my bad credit (x 2 defaults which were paid off in March last year) - we were refused (even with Platform!). Mortgage offer expire date - HELP!
Our mortgage offer expires end of March, and due to a delay in the completion of the new build property we're buying, it looks like exchange and completion will now be in April. As interest rates have risen, it's going to cost us an extra £1500 over the 2 years fixed period. Is there any way we can persuade our mortgage…

Feel I've been conned by House evaluation
Sorry if this is in the wrong category but here goes: I bought 50% of a shared ownership flat for £65,000 in Feb 2002, thus making the 100% evaluation of the property £130,000. Now 5 years later, the four estate agents who have come to evaluate the flat have all said I have been way overcharged originally and that the…

Uninhabitable property - can't get mortgage
I'm considering bidding for a 19th century property at auction. It hasn't been lived in for over 30 years and has no kitchen or bathroom (just a wc) so needs lots of work. Several lenders I have approached about a mortgage have said this means the property is regarded as uninhabitable and they won't provide a mortgage for…
