Dear Fellow MoneySavers, I love my husband dearly - but he has no sense when it comes to money! I tried an experiment where I totally handed everything over to him and tried to get him to be responsible. We ended up in about £60K of extra debt!!! (That's a long story...) My stepdaughter (18) is living with us now - she…

My boyfriends marriage broke down at the end of last year... after many years of him putting up with his wifes verbal/mental abuse to him. Living costs - couples
I'm curious as to how people generally split their living costs. I earn £20k/year and am trying to clear post-Uni debts and get some savings together. I'm 25. My boyfriend, a few years older, earns in excess of £40k/year and we're looking at moving in together. He pays various outgoings, overpays on his student loan, and…

Partners with different aspirations
Not sure exactly what responses I espect to get from this, but I need to get my worries off my chest! I have been with my boyfriend for nearly 5 years now, have just bought our first house together and we are very good together. Special evening in with other half...
Hi all Just a quick one... I'm having a cosy night in tonight with my lovely other half. I've been feeling very depressed recently and he's been great, lovely and supportive so wanted to say thankyou. We also had a ridiculous argument on Monday and both cried (LOL) so it's my way of saying sorry for being silly. I wanted…

Upset as found out my ex has had a baby with his new g/f!
I'm in total shock! Me and my ex split last year although some may say it was for the best, we both had depression round about the same time but each other's symptoms went unrecognised but were clear to everyone else. An accumulation of things led to him needing a "break" because he couldn't hack the responsibilities of…

Elderley mum's financial affairs - can she cope
Hi, bit difficult this and I wondered what others had done in similar situations. My mum is 80 and over the last year or so has become quite muddled, but she remains fiercely independent (and rightly so). My sister and I both live close by and keep a daily eye on her, but we wonder how to broach the subject of her letting…

New Sticky? What To Do When A Partner/Spouse Leaves
Has anyone else noticed an abundance of posts relating to separating from a partner/spouse? Posters have received excellent advice and support from this community :T so... Would it be beneficial to perhaps create a new sticky similar to the "What to do when a partner/spouse dies?"

Making a garden into a play area.
Can I ask how people use their gardens with the children? I've never had a garden before, though we have a small yard at the moment that we grow veg in, but we're moving house soon and will have space to play AND grow things. Don't know about the baby yet but my toddler is not in the least bit interested in football and…

Engagement ring!
Hi all, Just a quick question about cash vs credit. I love saving money, especially when it's a lot of money. I'm in the process of getting an engagement ring made for my girlfriend and when the chap told me how much it was going to be I jokingly asked if there was any discount for cash. Turns out there is! He offered me…

Slowly, slowly losing the plot
Hi All, I don't know whether this is the right board to post on - I usually post on another website but I have family who read that one and I don't want them to read this because they've got enough to worry about without adding me to their list and I'm okay really, just feeling crap. The pressures of home and work have…
