Savings for non-tax payer
I have a Cash ISA but, having completed my latest tax return, I am no longer liable to pay tax. Would it be better to keep the ISA but look for a savings account for future savings?

Withdrawing from a cash isa
Someone I know has got two Cash ISAs with Santander from previous years, one with £9000 and another with £3000, both earning 0.5%! She has decided to use £7000 for a one-off mortgage repayment (@ 4.99%) and then use the remaining (£5000) to deposit in a new Santander Cash ISA (3.3%) opened this tax year, in the knowledge…

ISA query!
Hello all, I'm hoping some of you can give me some advice for my grandparents. They both have an ISA each and are going to use the contents of both accounts to cover their funeral expenses (not a nice thought, but they like to know they have provided for this). Recently a friend of a friend's husband died and I've heard…

Opened a cash ISA last tax year - what to do this year?
Hello, In mid-March of this year, I opened a cash e-ISA with Santander, and used the full allowance. I currently have about £11k in my current account and am considering whether to open a new ISA with a different bank, or put this year's allowance in the same ISA. My question is - is this a good idea? I'm wondering what…

N&SI certificates and cheques
OK I can't get through to the NS&I help line and need some advice. I want to apply for the new index linked certificates and was goingto get a cheque from the building society. But the N&SI website implies the cheque has to be drawn on my bank account in my name which a building society cheque wouldn't be . Can anyone…

Can an ISA be transferred to another name?
My mother has an ISA and she doesn't want it in her name any longer. Can it be transferred into my name and still retain the ISA transfer benefits, i.e. I can still open a new one in my name this year? Thanks

Take cash out ISA to put in NS&I certificate?
Hi, I just found out about the NS&I certificates that have come back on sale...2 days after I put my money into a cash isa for this year. It is the Halifax Direct Reward isa and I beleive there is a 14 day cooling off period, so I was thinking of taking it out again and putting it in the certificate instead. I had a couple…

Furious at Lloyds for chopping and changing my rates. Do I have any recourse?
I've banked with Lloyds for about 25 years since opening my first account at the age of 5. My family has banked with them for years. Today I checked my ISA and discovered that I've been earning 0.1% for the last two years. A back of the envelope calculation tells me that I'd be around £1000 better off today had the rate…

NS&I ILC or Cash ISA?
Which do you think is better? For long-term savings wouldn't it be the ISA as that's tax-free for the forseeable future whereas the NS&I ILC ends after 5 years. Am I missing something? Any advice appreciated.

Blocked ISA - Santander
Hi, This is an old saga in some respects. ISA not used for a while and Santander say they have blocked it due to HMRC regulations. I was told that I needed to complete an ISA declaration which essentially says that I want to subscribe to a Cash ISA for either 2010/2011 or 2011/2012. My problem is that I don't want to do…
