Handed in my ISA transfer form to a Halifax branch last Monday. My Barclays ISA was automatically closed on the Thursday and the money appeared in my new Halifax account today. Just 7 days to complete the transfer! :T

ISA manager compensation payments for ISA tax purposes.
Do any forum users have experience of how compensation, missed interest, rectified mistakes in the form of money etc are treated by HMRC ISA rules. Cheers!

Help finding best account please
PLEASE don't jump down my throat for asking what may seem an easy question! I will shortly have £25.000 to invest/save. I do no want to lock it away for more than one year. Also, I am a NON tax payer. I would be so grateful for any help. It seems to me to be a minefield out there with so many options! PS an online account…

Advice needed re: savings account - lump sum from pension
I have opted to take a lump sum from my pension - £50,000. Where is the best savings account to put this in? I am happy to lock it away without touching it for 5 years. I have an ISA to which I’ve fully subscribed this year’s allowance. Is there another savings account that is tax free that I could use? Also, I will be…

Two ISAs in one year?
I have three funded FRISAs. I opened a Santander 3.3% ISA in April with zero balance intending to fund it with new money. I am having second thoughts about using a Santander account. So if I were to open (probably) an ING ISA , and fund that one, am I right in thinking I will break no ISA rules as long as I don't also fund…

Stocks and shares ISA Q
Hello all, I have some money to put into an ISA and want to put as much into a stocks and shares ISA as I can. I would be doing this in 4 or 5 transactions into individual shares in moderately safe uk companies. What is the best approach? I looked at trading through iii and the share centre but want to know the most cost…

ISA Transfer Missing
Hi all I've opened a ISA account with Halifax and requested a transfer from my old ISA account which is with Santander. I looked in my Santander account and they closed my ISA account, but there are no funds added to my Halifax ISA. Does this take a few days to update? Many thanks.

Previous Year Transfer to ISA account
Hi All, Apologies if these are very dumb questions but I've never transfered previous years before to a new account. If I open a new isa this year that is fixed for 4 or 5years, do previous isa's have to be transfered at time of opening or can I transfer later in year when it matures? Does the full allowance have to be…

NS&I certificates and plans for ISA and mortgage
I hope I've got this whole process right - first time posting. I am trying to decide what to do with regards to over-paying my mortgage, buying the new NS&I certificates and investing in a 2011-12 ISA. I hope to pay a substantial amount off my mortgage next year - Jan / Feb - an endowment will mature in Oct / Nov this year…

Is it worth withdrawing all funds from ISA and putting in NS&I Certificate?
Hi, I have £20,000 in a 3% ISA. I'm a tax payer. Is it a reasonable idea to withdraw £15,000 (leaving £5,000), and then use the £15,000 to put into an NS&I certificate? I know I would lose the tax-free 'wrapper' on the £15,000... but maybe it's worth it. What advantages are there in keeping £15,000 in an ISA rather than…

Quick question...
Hi, This may be a stupid question..... I have an e-ISA with Nationwide and the "bonus" interest rate is due to end in June, this was opened last tax year. NW offer a rate of 3.1% to existing customers if they open a new e-isa and the account allows transfers in. My question is can i open a new e-isa with NW (even if I have…

Getting a refund from an ISA manager
Has anyone opened an ISA (perhaps by mistake, unsuitable etc) and had a refund from the ISA manager within a few weeks also having the manager agree it would not count towards their ISA subscription (i.e. not reported back to HMRC) ?

Santander has charged tax on my Cash ISA..
Both my wife and I had a cash ISA with Santander for 2010 that finished this March. I opted to transfer mine to a 2 year 3.7%. However, my wife, when transferring her one noticed that tax had been taken from the interest. I checked and it been taken from mine too. She called to transfer hers and told them about the tax.…

NS&I Inflation linked bonds - can I add to at any time?
On Moneybox Radio 4 the spokesperson from NS&I implied that you could apply for the bond but also add to it at a later date. However I have not seen this on their website- anybody got any info on this?

Ditch Newcastle BS 4.4% for NS&I?
I jumped onto the Newcastle 4.4% Premium Bond savings when they appeared as it looked like a decent enough deal. However, now that the NS&I savings are back, I'm wondering if I should pull out the lot from the Newcastle savings and put it in a new NS&I account? Pros: + NS&I not taxed. + Higher interest rate. + Only just…

Cash ISA with Coventry BS
Have just finished my last years one year fixed rate ISA. I have been offered another one with them at a rate of 3.1%. I know the AA does a 3.35% which is about £13 difference over a year based on £5430 allowance. Are there any other fixed rates for a bit longer term that anyone can recommend please? :D
