S&S ISA Transfer Question
I opened a stocks and shares index tracker ISA earlier on in the year and made some payments into it. Unfortunately I had to withdraw the money due to a financial emergency (wife crashed her car and I had to buy her a new one) so now it is sitting empty. I want to try my hand with choosing my own shares so I need to…

Totally Confused Newbie - Questions about ISAs inside
Hi, I am totally newbie to savings accounts and ISAs and have a few questions. I am nearly 16 years old and have been recommended to open an ISA and put as much as I can in it as soon as I turn 16. I have around £2,000 that I am going to put into savings when I turn 16. Questions - 1) Does the money in an ISA roll over? In…

L&G Pacific Index Trust - Advice?
Hi, I invested £2450 in April and this is now worth £2122. I knew this would be a longer term investment. I have £500 spare - would now be a good time to plough it back into the fund whilst it is low(er)? Or should I just forget about the L&G trust and save the £500 and my future monies in a steady cash isa? (I am saving…

Transfering to new ISA-good idea?
Hi, I have been reading that a lot of you have been having trouble with transfering to a new isa provider at the end of your 1 year term. Stupid question i know but what is the benefit of transfering versus just closing your existing isa, taking the money and opening a new one? Is there a major loss of interest? sorry for…

Too much money... :p
I wish! But in all seriousness, I have topped up my mini ISA with £2800 since April and will need to put in another £500 end of this month, but the max is at £3000 per financial year right? Should I open up a new mini ISA to put my money in? Can I open another mini ISA with the same bank or will it have to be with a…

Please help! Whats going on here?
In May I stopped contributing to my Pearl Stocks and Shares ISA as it was performing poorly. I rang them to cash it in and was told the current value was £3808. I plan to cash it in and they have sent me the forms etc and in the mean time I've set up a A&L ISA and can moved my savings for them (I have been saving £40 pm…

Missold ISA??
We have been paying the maximum amount into a Stocks and Shares Bank Of Scotland ISA for a few years - it is currently £900 down in relation to what has been put in (understandable given the current climate). When opening the account we requested a low risk place for our money and they opened a cautiously mgd ISA. My…

Single Share ISA
Me and my wife have invested in peps and isas over many years, this year I quite fancy putting my £7200 in a single share I know this is risky but we have built up a good portfolio of funds and would like to have a play at buying and selling within the isa tax wrapper is this possible to manage ourselves or do we have to…

Comparison Calculations
Hi there, I'm looking to put some money away for 12 Months and am comparing a tax-incurring bond which pays 12% AER on maturity and a 12 Month ISA at 7% AER which obviously doesn't incur tac. How can I work out which of these would be better overall? I guess its not simply a matter of taking the tax rate off of the 12%…

WARNING - if anyone transferred an ISA to Abbey in 2007/08
Hi I transferred an ISA to Abbey early in the 2007/08 tax year. I am sure that at the time the paperwork said they would pay interest from the moment that my previous ISA provider stopped paying interest. When I checked my statement at the end of 2007/08 it seemed that they had not - they started paying interest almost 2…

Interest earned
Can anyone explain why the interest I'm earning each month on my natwest ISA has gone down by 10 over the past 6months. I haven't deposited or withdrawn from it but balance is of course increasing as interest in being earned. I earned 52 interest on 10,500 6months ago and just 42 on 10,800 last month. Is this just due to…

Abbey's Guaranteed Growth plan... too late...
Hello everyone. This is my first post, so I'm not sure what to expect! But I'm 21 and about to go into my third year at University. My post is connected with this thread - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1022511 - but rather than being warned away from this investment, I'm posting to say that I…

Stocks and Shares ISA
I'm looking at using a stocks and shares ISA as my pension so I have the option of withdrawing the money early for use as a deposit on a house/flat. It's a bit of a minefield - where should I be looking for the best deals?

ISA - Annual or Monthly interest
In an ideal world should I opt for an ISA which pays interest on an annual or monthly basis? I would have thought that it would be best to have monthly in case I have to transfer away before it reaches maturity but I recall reading somewhere that the egg isa at 6.05% on a yearly basis is a good one to opt for. Am a bit…
