Me and my wife have invested in peps and isas over many years, this year I quite fancy putting my £7200 in a single share I know this is risky but we have built up a good portfolio of funds and would like to have a play at buying and selling within the isa tax wrapper is this possible to manage ourselves or do we have to go through a hargreaves landsdown type broker.

HL are good with funds but not with single company shares. I think selftrade is one of the ones that often gets mentioned for the DIY investor on the boards as a good option.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

You need a broker to provide the ISA, and through whom you can buy the shares. Selftrade is very popular - if you look on the referrer's section on MSE or ask on the Selftrade board on TMF you should be able to get someone to refer you for £50 each. Some MSE-ers are offering to share their bonuses as well.
There's also Alliance Trust - they don't charge an annual fee but their dealing charges can be higher.0 -
You could also look at ItsHenderson, administered by Equiniti, who allow you to transfer and deal in all existing Investment Trust and Single Company ISAs and only charge £25 p.a. regardless of how many you have - plus, if you want, a £1 charge for each re-invested dividend. I think overall charges are cheaper than Alliance.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0
