Cash ISAs: Are they worth it?
Just trying to crunch some numbers here. If I put in 3K in Cash ISA which is the limit, I can earn around 180£ in interest in a year. Assuming 6% rate. This is tax protected. But, if I pay tax on it (which means keep it in the regular savings account), I lose around 20% of 180 which is 36 pounds. So, is the cash ISA…

Now Im self employed so would rather have access to the ISA money, but dont want to lose the tax free benefits when withdrawing money. Im confused over this... In the Cash ISA article it says…

Isa Top up in new Financial Year
I have an existing Cash ISA I took out last November, I added the maximum £3000 to it and have left it in place. My question is can I add the maximum 2008/9 allowance £3600 to my existing £3000 or if not can I take out an additional cash ISA with the same provider and add the maximum cash allowance to it?

Abbey ISA - Speak to someone who makes sense
After having too many problems with overseas call centres trying to simply transfer money into an Abbey ISA, I was given a secret method for only speaking to a UK Call Centre. I'm not knocking overseas call centres, but Abbey's is rubbish, with rude, inept staff with no powers who have a penchnt for hanging up on you when…

ISA advice please!!!
Hi Hope someone out there can help me. I have a cash ISA with Nationwide in which I have paid the maximum amount each year for the last few years (including 2007/08). I am now hoping to transfer some of it to a new fixed rate ISA. Lloyds TSB say they can open me a new FRISA immediately (this tax year) to be opened with a…

Sending transfer forms direct to current provider - what happens?
I'm in the process of transferring over two ISAs. Reading about all the delays people are experiencing I was wondering if it would speed things up to send the transfer forms direct to the old provider rather than waiting for them to go via the new provider - its an already existing account I'm transferring into so I know…

withdrawing money from ISA with yearly interest
If i setup a £3000 ISA that pays interest yearly and then withdraw money (two scenarios here: all £3000 or £1500) halfway through the year what interest is paid if any? If only put in £1 and then add to the account of a year period up to £3000 by the end of the year what interest is paid? Is it just on the total amount in…

iceshare won't transfer money on time

Birmingham Midshires 6.35% ISA
I am sure many people on here are aware of this, but Birmingham Midshires has launched an ISA that pays a clean 6.35%. It is operated by post, and it seems applications must be made by phone for the 2008-09 tax year, and an initial deposit by cheque. More details at: http://www.askbm.co.uk/savings/p/isa/product.asp?id=138…

Hbos Isa
Do you think the 6.2% for year deal for £3000 will still be available after the 6th i.e. 08-09. Is this a good deal anyway? I assume the next ISA year after that i.e. 09-10, you can open a new ISA with £3000 while HBOS one is still running. Are there any better ISAs on offer? Is it best to go with a cash and mini S&S or…

Query about ISAs - answers needed in the next few days please!!!
I have a question about ISAs - and I would be very grateful of any answers before the deadline!!! I know that everybody has an annual entitlement, about £3000. Say, for example, I have an ISA with Egg, with £3000 in it for the tax year 2007 to 2008. Can I then open another ISA, with a different company, for the year 2008-9…

Lloyds and other fixed rates - beware
Transferring out of a Fixed Rate ISA will be considerably more complicated than getting out of an account like Barclays Tax Beater. As bristolleedsfan has said, people leaving Barclays should apply to transfer about 30 days before the promotional rate ends to avoid being kept on a lower rate for up to 30 days while the…

2007/8 ISA after 05.04.08
What happens if on 05.04.08 I haven't put in the maximum amount allowed for my 2007/8 ISA? Can I continue paying into the account until the max £3k is reached or do I have to open a brand new ISA for the new tax year and start again? Thanks

Barclays online applications
I was wondering if the Barclays Online Banking application system is a truly automated process, or if applications just get put in the backlog with paper forms. The way to tell would be if someone who has applied online for the CURRENT tax year could please report how long it took before the Tax Haven account number showed…

Confused about an old and new ISA - HELP!
Hi there. I had a Britannia Instant Access Cash ISA for a while and in May 2007 i put in 3k full year allowance in. The total was 6k and obviously could put no more in. In October i saw Britannia offer a Fixed Cash ISA witha rate of 6.55% for a year. I decided to move to this. This was easy. So i've currently got a…

ISA help again please kind people!
Hi all and thanks for looking. I need to fill up my 07/08 ISA allowance and require a little advice please. I can either go for the Nationwide 6.15% fixed rate for 1 or 2 years OR go for the Barclays 6.5% variable rate. Would the assumption be that Barclays rates will drop in the next ISA year and should I go for the fixed…
