Sending transfer forms direct to current provider - what happens?

I'm in the process of transferring over two ISAs. Reading about all the delays people are experiencing I was wondering if it would speed things up to send the transfer forms direct to the old provider rather than waiting for them to go via the new provider - its an already existing account I'm transferring into so I know all the details.
