Looselay or gluedown LVT
Looking for a good value hardwearing floor for the whole of our ground floor which has underfloor heating. We were going to go with Karndean LooseLay Providence but then the builder has advised against it due to the movement of the loose boards and said to use a Glue Down board instead. Anyone got LooseLay, is it really a…

Withholding payment for incomplete job
We've had a large double storey extension done. It was agreed very early on (but not in the original quote) that our builders would also do the fencing, patio and drainage from the patio in the back garden. This was all supposed to be completed by the start of Sept when we moved back into the property. Just before starting…

Dispute with workman - small claims court questions
I have a dispute with a workman which I might need to take to small claims court. I have two questions. 1) He says he will involve lawyers - can I be made to pay their costs if I lose? 2) He says he recorded our conversations in my house. I do not believe him - and anyway recordings would help my case, not his - but can a…

Damp patch in bathroom - Builder or roofer?
Hi, We have just moved into our first house (02/11/20) and last week I noticed what looks like a wet patch in the corner of the bathroom where the wall meets the ceiling. It feels more cold than wet to the touch. Don't think it was there when we viewed the house in July but can't say for sure. I've had a look outside and…

Loft conversion end of terrace / dual aspect house
We're trying to maximise our living space and given our tiny patio a loft conversion seems the smart move. Our house is an end of terrace with dual aspect (L shape that faces two roads, one being a small cul-de-sac). Is such extension possible?

I have jetwashed the block paving (with one of those patio ends) and of course some of the sand has displaced. I am unlikely to get a proper dry day before end weekend although the forecast for next…

Mounting Pullup Bar DIY Question
Apologies if this is the wrong section, felt it was more DIY than Health and Fitness related. The doorframes/walls in my tenement flat are too thick for one of those leverage style pullup bars so I got some pipe to make one and want to mount it above a doorframe but I'm concerned the doorframe will develop cracks over time…
