B & Q Gift Card
Anyone else been denied use of their Gift Card's? Coleraine Northern Ireland store on Monday stated they were not accepting B & Q Gift Card's as payment. Had to use another form of card payment. Emailed B & Q via their website, but no reply. There is £200 on that Gift Card. Is this official policy, or a local anomaly?

Double Glazing cracked - Company shut due to Covid
Morning We have woken up this morning to find a large and growing crack on the interior pane of glass to our bedroom window. Having moved into the house in November last year we were given the paperwork for the original install which came with a 10 year guarentee. Having called the company this morning they are shut due to…

Shower head flakes
Hi, recently my shower has been getting hotter and hotter so I assumed the shower head was getting clogged up with limescale so i cleaned it with limescale remover like I normally do every 6-12 months. Upon rinsing the head out this time there were literally hundreds of little flakes coming out. Everytime I poured more…

Double glazing vs triple glazing vs self-cleaning glass
I'm going to be replacing all the windows in the house with new double glazing. It's been about 30 years since I last had to do this so I'm sure technology has moved on. Is triple glazing and self-cleaning glass something worth considering? What's the percentage premium to pay for each of these over standard double…

Garden Access Rights
We recently moved into an end of terrace house, in which the neighbour has a side gated access to our garden and then onto the main road. 9/10 they would only use this to take their bins out and bring them back in the evening, in which I have no arguments with. The other day I noticed that their was 2 x random men in my…

New Concrete Driveway Problems
Got a few lads in to lay some new concrete on part of my back yard, it needs to be good enough to put a car on. They have ripped up all the old surface but it doesn't look deep enough. What is the ideal depth? They are supposed to be putting gravel down and steel mesh before concrete. They are just laying the concrete on…

Cordless Vaccuum
Hi All Hope you are all well & safe Our current clunky Dyson corded vacuum is coming to the end of its life. It's making very strange noises, the pipe for the hand attachment is split, and its generally ready for replacing (not withstanding the fact it's far too heavy). So we've decided to buy a cordless vacuum. We've done…

Shed base
I know this has been discussed many times and yet I'm hoping for some advice. I'm getting a new 8x6 shed and need to prepare a new base. The garden is sloping slightly - over 6 feet there's around 6 inch drop. What base would be best in this case? I'm not keen on having a concrete base built so hoping for other solutions.…

Enormous shed needs repairs, keep or scrap?
We have a shed at the bottom of the garden that is 11m x 2.7m. Over the years it has cost us a lot in upkeep for very little return, we don't need the space as we have another shed too. I'm trying to work out whether it is best to repair or scrap. At the moment it has 2 roof leaks despite the roof being refelted 3 years…

High pitched noise when toilet filling
Hi, looking for advice. When we flushed our downstairs toilet we noticed a high pitched noise which continued until the cistern had filled. A bit of Googling told us this was likely a faulty or dirty fill valve. Since accessing the cistern requires removing a siliconed shelf, we decided to try to access the cistern…

Small Uneven Yard Puddles
I have a very small rear yard, approximately 4 metres sq. It leads on to an alley. The yard doesn't get much footfall an is rarely used. There's a drain in the corner of the yard and some water flows into this, but right in the centre theres a dip and a large puddle appears there when it rains. Then I have to brush this…

In short, moved into a block of flats. I’m on the top (2nd floor) and am having real problems with the noise from the neighbours below. We can hear everything from conversation, to phone calls, crying children, stamping feet, tantrums etc. Even over our tv, we are woken up on a daily basis by their children talking. We…
