B & Q Gift Card

Anyone else been denied use of their Gift Card's? Coleraine Northern Ireland store on Monday stated they were not accepting B & Q Gift Card's as payment. Had to use another form of card payment. Emailed B & Q via their website, but no reply. There is £200 on that Gift Card. Is this official policy, or a local anomaly?

If it didn't not expire and wasn't bought in Jersey or Guernsey, then, I think, they are talking rubbish. There can be no any 'local anomaly'.

The one I went to yesterday was card payment only. That way the staff are not handling things touched by a customer.
Do the gift cards get swiped by the staff? If so, that will probably come under the no cash rule at the moment.

The staff in the past, always take the card and swipe it, so that would make some sense. However they lift the items in the trolley (which you already handled) to scan them which nullifies not handling things touched by a customer! I guess once the Covid -19 is behind us, normal service will resume. They still haven't replied to my query. Interesting there is nothing in their FAQ's about not accepting Gift Cards.0

Chances of the staff member grabbing exactly where you touched are slim, chances of that on handing over a card are pretty much guaranteed.
Given them time to get to your email, things are a lot slower than normal at the moment.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Surely where on the product the staff member grabs depends upon the product with smaller items & items with handles far more likely to be held in the same place, pretty much like a card.MovingForwards said:Chances of the staff member grabbing exactly where you touched are slim, chances of that on handing over a card are pretty much guaranteed.

You're right about replies generally taking longer than normal though.0 -

Not from what I saw when I picked a load of stuff up this week. All they did was flip the thing over from the edge to scan the bar code.
Plants were picked up near the bottom of the pot, not top like customers do.
Brooms / other garden tools were touched via the broom head etc not the handle.
