Best Underlay for Laminate

Hi guys, some more advice needed please.
I am looking for underlay for laminate flooring to go over floorboards and want something that is also suitable for slightly uneven flooring just  in case.
I have seen 2 options so far that I am considering. 1 is 7mm Fibreboard flooring and the other Sonic Gold. What would you guys recommend or is there a better option that is not too price?

Do not skimp on underlay. I had a similar issue and used 7mm fibre board. After less than a year the laminate started squeaking and after three it got very bad. I had laminate and underlay removed, uneven area skimmed and replaced with quickstep.

So which underlay would you recommend? I am using quickstep laminate for the flooring. I was going to to get the 7mm fibre board underlay but am not sure now after your experience as I would like to avoid future problems if possible.

Vitrex xps underlay seems to be recommended by many. That's what I've bought (from Screwfix) but not fitted yet (slight, ahem, delay)

A lot depends on the quality of the click system on the flooring. I've laid quickstep on floorboards and on the advice of quickstep used the 7mm fibre boards with quick step roll underlay on top. This has been down for around 8 years with no issues so far.

I've got Sonic Gold under my engineered wood floor.  Very happy, no complaints.  I also bought it off eBay substantially cheaper than your link!

If you go to Vitrex wbsite, they have a number of oter underlays, but I;ve used this several times.

It's dust free, unlike fibreboard, has sound and insulation qualities, too and easy to cut, carry and that's a good price, currently, sometimes around £20 previously.

Lol, everyone has a completely different opinion. What i,m finding difficult is knowing which type of underlay to get e.g. fibre, sonic, foam. I mostly don't want problems in the future and to have to change everything. I don't really understand the differences between them as in the descriptions they all sound the same?
