How to find a decent cleaner?
Fairly new to this & wondering how one goes about finding a good cleaner? This is what we've tried so far: 1. Asking neighbours- none know of any 2. Asked friends & family- they don't know any in our area 3. Google map - found approx 9 local cleaning companies, called them all but only one has a cleaner available. They…

Driveway surface options and cost
Hi, I'm looking to get my driveway resurfaced. I have no idea what the best option is for a surface so keen for any advice. It's a fairly small drive - about 4.5 metres x 4.5 metres - just enough room for 2 cars. Currently gravel-surfaced but it's looking old and scrappy with big grooves where I park my car and not very…

The suggested works required was to take the skirting board off and inject a new DPC. At the time i could see no visible signs of damp and the house was vacant and cold, for these reasons i came to…

Plumber suuplied shower, who fufills the warranty?
Hi, I had a new shower installed by a plumber, he recommended and installed it, less than 12 months ago. The shower is now faulty and the plumber is basically saying that as it's not an installation problem but an issue with the shower unit itself he's not responsible. For info: he's not seen the unit but it's not leaking…

Council covenant consent for alterations - Newcastle
I'm buying an ex-council house in Newcastle upon Tyne, and it has a number of covenants attached as you would expect, which bind subsequent owners as well as the original Right to Buy purchaser. Two of these covenants relate to making any external alterations to the property, and require the owner to get council consent in…

Did you know... You could be fined for indirectly fly tipping?
I'm surprised at how many people didn't know that if you hire a man in a van to collect something from their property, e.g. a mattress or fridge and that service doesn't dispose of it correctly that the customer can also be fined for using that service? What's disturbing is that some people didn't seem to care that their…

It didn’t do anything so I popped some bio powder on it to take away the smell. It’s gone so yellow in colour. Any tips on how to get rid of the yellow staining? Thank you

I’m currently in the process of getting quotes for a house extension. A few builders have visited and are going to put together their quotes. I have some first or second hand recommendations for them already. What extra checks do people normally do once they have the quotes back before making a decision. I’m thinking of…

Quick Planning permission then PD (permitted development) Question
We already have approved planning for a big side-to-rear double story extension. I trust its ok to build a conservatory now under PD prior-neighbour-notification rules at the rear as long as it does not touch the above extension and therefore they are totally separate developments (not touching) as we've NOT used our…
