New conservatory roof??
Hi, I currently have a glass roof on my conservatory. even though its supposed to be solar/heat reflecting glass, its still to cold to use in the winter and to hot in the summer. I'm looking to get it replaced with a tiled roof system. I have had quotes from a supalite roof installer (which uses an aluminium frame) and…

Liniar Eco Energy Plus upvc
A quote I had recently for double glazing has recommended the Liniar Eco Energy plus profiles. - Is this a good quality window frame - or is this a cheap and cheerful product? I need to also understand where it sits within the choices - e.g. comparison to Kommerling, and also, which profile is the best quality. Thanks

Artex Walls and Putting Pictures Up
Hi, So we're moving into our new home soon and thinking about how we're going to make it homely. One of the annoying things is quite a lot of the walls have what I believe are artex swirls on them. Being a worrier I'm naturally concerned with asbestos in the artex and releasing it by hammering nails in. Am I at risk? Thanks

Paint Recommendation please
I've decided to repaint my Neptune kitchen units as the painted finish looks absolutely terrible after only a few years. Decided to stick with the Eggshell finish it has now, but wanting to use a different brand of paint as the Neptune paint has faded terribly in such a short time. Plus it is £50+ for 2.5l which seems a…

Load bearing wall? I don't think so!
Hi, I've seen loads of posts about "Is this wall load bearing?" but not yet seen one that answer this question... and hopefully it will be useful to others (and me). Just bought a 1940 semi, with a galley kitchen and dining/living room at the rear groundfloor. I want to knock through to create one room. After research on…

Cracks forming in plaster along walls?
I live next to a main road and every time a big lorry or bus goes by I feel the living room shake. Iv noticed some some cracks forming in the plaster along one wall. Cleaning grouting between floor tiles
Moved house recently and the kitchen floor has lovely glossy cream floor tiles but the grouting is very dirty/discoloured. My steam mop has no effect as the grouting is not flush with top of tiles. Have experimented with BarKeepers Friend and that certainly helps but it's very slow applying a paste then eating awhile and…

In need of carpet for a 1 bed flat, was tempted by carpetright but had a rethink after some reading, has anyone used an online carpet place and got a recommendation? Looking for 80/20 around 50oz, what should I expect to pay for this per meter? Found 1 site selling 80/20 50oz for £15.60m which seems very cheap? Thanks

Best way to fix peeling loose paint?
Hi folks, Obviously the exterior of house especially the gable and a few window sills have to be painted again, but whats the best way of going about it so as to have a smooth enough finish. Relight my fire 🔥
This is my ugly old fire. It works perfectly and i cant afford to replace it. Does anyone have any ideas at all how to smarten it up a bit. I looked into buying a radiator cover to hide it when not in use but the size of it was awkward and this option was expensive. I've upcycled many…

Bosch washing machine
Hi, I have a Bosch washing machine that leaks intermittently from the dispenser drawer. I've tracked the leak down to happening when it goes to the rinse cycle. It doesn't happen on every wash, but when it does, it seems as if the volume of water being pumped through is too much and the water floods out through and around…
