Anti snap door locks

A spate of burglaries near me so I want to improve home security. Apparently the method of entry is snapping the lock. Any recommendations? How easy is it to do yourself?

  • Have a look on you tube, lots of videos about changing Euro type locks and how easy the old type can be broken.
I changed my front and back doors with ABS, you just need to measure the length of the old lock before ordering, you just need a Philips screwdriver, my locks were about £35 each I think, easy job.

Euro type locks can be simply swapped with like for like.
When I moved to my place I changed the lock and ordered one from http://www.handlestore.com/locks/yale-security-euro-cylinder

They were a bit slow (a week), but defo very good price, simply unscrew the current one, measure it, order it and replace it when it arrives.

  • I highly recommend the Brisant Ultion though you can't just buy it online AFAIK, I think you need to find a local stockist.

Changing the barrel is an easy job but you need to measure your existing one to make sure you get the right size.

    It's very easy to do.
If people are snapping in your area make sure you get one with the 3 kite marks on the front. Also get a new high security handle just incase they don't see the kite marks.
Anti-snap locks are designed to break in a way that doesn't let them fall out, but they are still broken so you would have to go in the back door and replace the front lock. Better if they don't try and snap your lock :)
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

Advocet make some of the best Euro locks. I got a pair of keyed alike locks some years back.
