Which bathroom brands to go for
Hi we are getting our bathroom refitted and now getting totally stressed by the amount of choice on offer. We thought we had everything chosen and had gone for an R2 sink and cupboard underneath and an R2 toilet. Now I've read bad reviews on those products so am having a rethink. Has anyone used Pura before? If so is there…

Painting skirting boards
Easter weekend means time to redecorate! I'm pretty much a DIY noob. I'm going to be painting our skirting boards, but unsure what to do to prepare. As you can see from the pictures, the white paint has been chipped and the old brown is now exposed. Should I be looking sand or strip everything back to start afresh? Or can…

Concrete floor damaging lino/vinyl on it
As above. There is dirty marking on some points and what looks like ingrained dirt on other points on the vinyl. I've scrubbed hard - but it's not dirt. I am guessing it's mould coming through on the underside of the lino courtesy of the floor not having been done properly. I estimate it's down to the way the concrete…

Asbestos Insulation Board
We've discovered AIB in our outbuildings. I think our asbestos removal estimate might climb significantly! Has anyone had AIB removed? How expensive was it? Did they park a decontamination unit outside your house? We're just wondering how much our neighbours are going to talk when we get it done!

How do I tell if chipboard flooring is rotten?
We had a leak in our bathroom, only discovered when it started dripping into the flat below ours (looks to be superficial in their flat). The leak is fixed now, but it had soaked our whole bathroom floor – and it wasn’t just damp, it was saturated. Everything was hidden by the lino, but I’m thinking it was like that for a…

What's the Difference with these Shower Traps?
My shower has one of these: I replaced it with one of these: The one I replaced it with was about £6, the slightly taller one is double that. The new one is shorter. Since replacing, draining I'd perhaps a little slower but not really bad. So what's the actual difference? In addition, what is the function of this: The new…

Currently I have a Bath Shower Mixer on my upstairs bathroom. There is 2 issue with Hot Water Pressure: If someone's using kitchen tap downstairs, hot water pressure in the bath upstairs gets too low. Although cold water pressure is still decent. Appliances help
I have a space for a washing machine 600mm wide exactly, I'm having a cupboard next to it removed to fit a freestanding dishwasher....I think the cupboard is 597mm wide. Having looked online I can't get a dishwasher for less than 600mm wide so I was looking to get a washing machine 595 wide. Is this 2mm gap going to be…

Builder dispute
We are currently having a lot of work done to our home by a registered builder. The works to be completed were detailed in the estimate he provided at the start of things. One item that we requested was underfloor heating for the kitchen - it is being tiled and might be cold in winter etc. The works are nearing completion,…

4 week old leather sofa sagging already.
Hi All I purchased 2 x 2 seat sofas & a pouffe from Harveys almost 4 weeks ago. One recliner & one static. The recliner where hubby sits for around 4 hours per evening has become very loose & creased. He is 14.5 stone. The static one is not so bad but maybe would be if he used it. It does seen did stretch & level wrinkle…
