Aqualisa Quartz Electric 9.5 turns on after multiple presses
I have a grey Aqualisa Quartz Electric 9.5 shower. Since the last week, if I want to start it, I had to press the start button 30-40 times in order to see the water coming out continuously with pressure. With each press to its start button, very little water comes out and stops. As I continue to press the button, pressure…

Moving / hiding pipes
In our lounge there are some pipes boxed in to the side of the fireplace, I presume these are central heating pipes. The asymmetry is really annoying. How much would it cost to move these or hide them differently. All ideas welcome although I've already decided that a similar 'boxed-in' appearance on the other side is not…

Mould and water softner

Possibility is the water pipes feeding in and out producing condensation and hence accumulated damp, which is common especially…

Office Chair on Carpet - Alternatives?
Are there any alternatives to rolling around an office type chair on some carpet? Out study is having some cheap carpet put in but we don't want to distroy it by having a wheely chair. Are there any alternatives, or should we just consider a normal, non-wheel chair?

New bathroom not done correctly?
When I bought current house a couple of years back - everything was ripped out of the bathroom and it was completely re-done. Part of this was that a large part of the (concrete) floor had to be re-done and a sizeable amount of the bathroom floor was newly done concrete. The firm told me I had to wait several days for the…

Landscaping issues
I would like to know what others would do in this situation. I got a local small firm in to do some work for me. He cut a hedge, did a small amount of pointing, sourced and put down 2 tonnes of stone chips and lifted 4 rows of patio slabs to relay them. He also put in an edge along the patio slabs to hold them up. I am not…

Drawing a straight line on a floor
Hi All, I have to draw a straight line on a floor before I put tiles. The problem is that the width at one end of the room is 290 cm while at the other end of the room is 295 cm, so I assume that the walls are not straight. If I was to measure the centre of the narrower wall and the centre of the wider wall and then join…

University mattress
Hi, I'm at university (Bristol) and my room came with a cheap springy non-supportive single mattress. I've slept on it for a few nights and it won't do - I get back/neck ache every time. I'm going to need a new mattress or a topper (if they will help with this type of mattress). My budget is around 100 and I must be able…
