Bogus company or shoddy workmanship?
In a nutshell called a glass fitting company to have a small 6inch x 8inch glass panel put into my front door. The job was done in less than 10 mins, he removed the beading from the door (the bit that goes around each glass panel), put the glass in and nailed the beading back in. Nailing it in caused the beading to split…

Chimney Leaking
Hello, just got off the phone to a relative who was due to have a new gas fire installed today. When the people came to install it they said it could not be done as there is a leak and the smoke is coming out of two chimney pots instead of just one. The house is over 100 years and originally was one whole house but has…

Can a company charge me to inspect their own work?
Hi, Three years ago I paid just short of £1000 to have some damp proofing work done on my house and paid extra for a 20 year warranty for the work. One area in particular the damp seems to keep reappearing so I contacted the company last week to make a claim under my warranty. They now tell me I have to pay them, in…

Liebherr or Miele Fridge Freezer
Can anyone help me figure out which one to go for? Liebherr CNP3913 or Miele KFN12924SD. They're both the same price at the moment (£720 ish). The Liebherr has the advantage that it's very efficient and would take up a tiny bit less room in the kitchen. The Miele is cool.... I have been poised with credit card in hand for…

Should the flat downstairs share the cost?
Hi, We recently managed to buy our own flat and while we were having some work done (with a tight budget) the builders discovered that after heavy rain the roof was leaking and the walls adjacent to the leak were quite damp and mouldy, actually BLACK after the wallpaper that was covering them was removed. We had a quote…

Spindle suppliers in Birmingham area
I'm in need of some staircase spindles. I'vre been to B&Q, Wickes etc., and they are very exspensive. Online suppliers are much cheaper but the delivery charges are off putting. Does anyone know any wood yards in the Birmingham are that sell spindles and stair parts at reasonable prices?
