Liebherr or Miele Fridge Freezer

Can anyone help me figure out which one to go for?

Liebherr CNP3913
or
Miele KFN12924SD.

They're both the same price at the moment (£720 ish).

The Liebherr has the advantage that it's very efficient and would take up a tiny bit less room in the kitchen.

The Miele is cool....

I have been poised with credit card in hand for several hours, but just can't make up my mind.

I would go for Liebherr - it's more energy efficient plus the company specialises in refrigeration which (in my eyes) makes them a better choice when it comes to fridges and freezers.

But then I may be biased as I have a Liebherr myself!

After doing some more research this afternoon, that's the way I was thinking, silly moo.

The only reason the miele came into the equation was because of the seemingly bargain price.
  • I have a Miele fridge freezer and am very happy with it. Miele do not actually make their fridge freezers, they are in fact made my Liebherr so I would just go for whichever model you prefer. Pick the one which has the best internal layout for your needs or choose the efficient one if that is what you want.

A few years back we bought a Liebherr Fridge Freezer. CUNES3913 and boy did we have problems with it.

Basically, and to cut a long story very short, the freezer would run between -25 and -30 degrees centigrade. This was caused by the temperature in the fridge. You could change the fridge temp but not the freezer temp as it was factory set at -18 deg cent and governed by the temp reductions in the fridge. Whenever the fridge temp needed to drop it would reduce the temp in the freezer. Food was ruined.

Liebherr (not the seller) changed the fridge freezer 3 times and the problem still persisted. Eventually, it was changed for a different model (cost around £1,100) - this has independent fridge and freezer temp controls and has been brilliant.

Liebherr make most refrigeration products for miele so its in effect a rebadged liebherr when you buy miele. Liebherr is a very good product so I would recommend it.

As others have said, Miele and Liebherr will be identical. But what are Liebherr like for warranty and for customer service? I know Miele's standard warranty is 2 years and their customer services are superb...which is what you would expect from a premium make.

Also have you considered the Miele KD12823S fridge freezer? I know its slightly smaller than the Miele you're considering (221 litres v 231 litres) but you'll save more than £200! Though i got this from Dixons for only £400 back in 2008:p

    HI All

Against popular belief, Liebherr do not make Miele's refrigeration products. However, both brands are made in the same factory which is jointly owned by the Liebherr and Miele families, but the products are made to the individual companies specifications.

  • Thanks for that info CKD - in your opinion does one brand offer better quality or would you say they are much the same?

All I can say is that we have had a Liebherr stainless steel fridge freezer for about 8 years and I get the feeling we will never have to buy another one. We will expire before this thing does.

    Hi

I think quality wise there is nothing to choose between the 2 brands. The main differences are that with Liebherr there is a much larger range but with Miele I think you would get better after sales service should you need it.
