I cant vouch for this but I am reliably informed that Miele refrigeration is made for them by Liebherr or BSH. All built under units are apparently sourced from BSH built to Miele's spec and tall fridge, freezer and fridge/freezer units from Liebherr (again made to Miele spec).

Miele (apparently) dont like to admit that they buy these in from third parties so make claims about the units being made in jointly owned factories but I am told that this isnt the case.

Whichever way you look at it, Miele refrigeration is very good and their service is probably better than Liebherr should things go wrong.

I don't want to open another can of worms here, but what made you decide on only getting one of these high-end freezers? You could save £300 and get an LG or Samsung one, which might not last for 50 years but it'll last for a good 20 I'd bet.

had problem with my liebherr fridge freezer but be beware they contract their work to a service company who in turn subcontract the work out and after numerous engineers the problem still persist was just about to give up when i managed to get hold of someone number who use to worked directly for the manufacturer he promptly arrive and diagnose the fault which was the numerous boards or sensors which were replaced but a faulty wiring connection everything working as it should be if you are in london area give them a call agsrefrigeration.co.uk.
What was the problem with yours? We've had someone out to see ours twice now but it's an intermittent fault so it's not easy to diagnose. Turning off and on again seems to fix!

Thanks for the reply - it's been perfectly behaved since the last call out though so can't diagnose! Not in the South unfortunately but thanks for the tip!

Brands don't like to admit they buy things from thierd parties because it makes their premium more difficult to justify.

Brand spec probably means a built to given price and different exteriors badging.

In this instance I think a Miele appliance coming out of a BSH factory will probably contain higher quality trim, compressors etc. Miele make good products and just because its made in a BSH factory doesn't make it a bad product.
