Rent the house where I live under help to buy scheme
Is it possible to rent the house where I live under help to buy scheme? So basically renting a room in it. I would need to do it in case things go very bad, you know, job, illness, accident, etc... Online I read only that I can't rent it and then buy a second house, in this case I would still live inside that one.

New builds - negotiating price down
Just wondering if anyone has been able to negotiate down the price of new builds and by how much? I am currently in the process of selling my house and have seen a beautiful house which is £30k more than I'd really like to spend (asking price £330k). Is it more challenging to negotiate down a property price on a new build?…

Estate agents costs payable if cancellation within 14 day cooling off period
We have signed a property selling agreement with an estate agent at a distance and are therefore entitled to the 14-day cooling off period. The selling agreement also stated that we would be liable for payment of an 'administration charge of £500 + VAT as a contribution towards costs that will have been incurred". We are…

When will the solicitor require the mortgage offer?
The solicitor was instructed three weeks ago. On the same day, all the documents requested were emailed across along with £450 on account. They didn't ask for the mortgage offer or acknowledge they received the documents. I sent one chase-up email two weeks ago enquiring if the offer was required but not had any reply. Is…

Surface water flood risk insurance - esure
Hello I have telephoned esure to inform them that a new build property i am moving into has a moderate risk of surface water flooding. The property/land has never flooded. They have said on that basis they would not insure the property for buildings insurance. I was really surprised by this as I thought insurance companies…

I live in the north of England and I own a flat. My thinking is that I want to ultimately sell the flat and buy a house. How to find reputable / recommended house snagger for West of Scotland?
We’re moving into a new build in the West of Scotland, and thought we’d pay for a good snagging survey and report to be done so any issues can be highlighted to the builders early on in attempts for these to be addressed, etc. A Google of various search terms returned some questionable so-called professional snagging…

Additional solicitors fees on leasehold purchase
Hi, I've been quoted an additional £2,250 + VAT for legal fees and disbursements that I must pay, in relation to my purchase of a new build leasehold property. I have already paid £2,175, which I believed should have covered this, so I'm curious if other people have experienced such a large additional expense in a similar…

Landlord's perspective 12 month or 6 months + is this reasonable?
Hi there, We are letting out our lovely property and found a tenant to move in. The tenant seems nice and very on top of things - which is a good sign as we don't want hopeless tenants that don't understand their obligations. Her preference is for a 12 month fixed term tenancy with no break clause - but this only came out…

Property purchase timeline in the UK ridiculously log winded.
Here me out here folks my head is about to explode. Does anyone else just want to scream at the length of time it takes to purchase a property in the UK? Hello, I am a long time lurker of the forum. In the process of moving flats, found a new Place advertised with allocated parking space. Now, we've got the tenancy agreement which is a bog standard one. However, it doesn't mention at all the allocated parking. Upon querying this, the EA mentioned that they can't add the…
