Leasehold house sale dragging on
My spouse began the sale of her leasehold house to a close family member in November but we still don't have a date for completion/exchange of contracts even though the buyer's mortgage offer expires at the end of the month. Both sets of solicitors seem to be at loggerheads over what is required or even whether to do the…

Rent Arrears
I have an HMO house with 5 tenants. 3 are paying rent and two at present can't. How long can they stay before i give them notice and also how will i know when they will receive money from the Government. I am not desperate, as they are good tenants, but, say come July, they could just leave, rather than paying arrears…

The 2 housemates that are not currently…

Reducing an already agreed price
Myself and my wife are currently in the process of upgrading to a bigger home we have agreed to sell ours for 274k and buy a bigger home for 330k. Our buyers are still happy paying the 274k for ours. Would it be morally wrong to try renegotiate the price down on the purchase. This is going to be our forever home so price…

DIY / Alterations in Council Flat. Advice
Ive moved into a council flat. The previous tenant was living in a state of severe self neglect (council told me this). The flat was fully gutted and refurbished before I moved in, so it’s in great condition. Except the (enclosed conservatory type) balcony which is in a literally horrific state....holes in the walls and…

Land supposed to be in my deeds
There is land next to my house which we park our cars on. The pub next door told me that the piece of land was sold to a previous owner of the property and should be in my deeds but it isn't. I have chased the previous owner and the documentation had been passed to another owner who had lost the documents. I spoke to my…

Can you view a vacant house during lock down?
I know you can move into a vacant house during lock down but what about viewing one? I’m assuming the answer is no as it isn’t essential if you are in safe accommodation (which I am). Also the estate agent would have to let you in and keep an eye on you even if you social distance.

Phone call from Lettings agents
Just had a call from the lettings agent which manages our property. It seems they are ringing all the tenants on their books to check they're OK and to offer any help if needed. On the face of it, a kind gesture but I'm also suspicious there's an ulterior motive! Any thoughts?

Hi everyone, We are in the process of purchasing a 1930s house in the South East, however since the process started, we have gathered new information on the house which makes us wonder whether we aren't overpaying.
