Land supposed to be in my deeds

There is land next to my house which we park our cars on. The pub next door told me that the piece of land was sold to a previous owner of the property and should be in my deeds but it isn't. I have chased the previous owner and the documentation had been passed to another owner who had lost the documents. I spoke to my solicitor whom I dealt with the sale of the house when purchasing and she said if its not on the land registry as mine there is nothing I can do.
Is there a way I can get this land in my deeds? The current pub owners were not the ones who made the sale of the land but they can confirm it. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

The first and foremost thing you would need to do is to establish the legal owner of the land via a land registry search. Once you have done that, you can then discuss with them as to the purchase of the land followed by the formal and legal processes to include it as part of your title register and plan.0

Even if the land in question was sold to a previous owner of the property you now own, this doesn't automatically mean that the land now belongs to you.Joby1982 said:There is land next to my house which we park our cars on. It may well have been purchased as a separate area and if the land wasn't added onto the deeds for the property, it will probably still legally belong to whomever purchased it last.
It's a bit like there being a field that adjoins my garden. If it came up for sale, I could purchase it for training my dogs and if/when I sold my house in the future, I could keep ownership of the field.2 -
This is why when purchasing your solicitor will have asked you if the plans matched what you thought you were buying...
You're probably better off asking this question on House Buying, Renting & Selling.3 -

When you bought the property, you agreed with the solicitor that the LR entry matched what you thought you were buying.
Now, somebody random has said "Ooh, I thought ol' Ted also owned..." - and you've assumed that somehow means you got another bit of land as well? Nope, don't work like that. Nice try, though.
You can, of course, try and establish ownership via adverse possession of the land. Except it doesn't sound like you've had exclusive use of it for the requisite period. But you can fence it off and start now...0 -
