Renting to Family
So... due to an ongoing issue with family and bankruptcy, we have purchased a family member a flat and would like them to pay minimal rent (below the market rate) while they get back on their feet. I've been looking around and can't find any definitive information. Am I correct in thinking that whomever receives the rent…

Quite a lot of stuff left behind by previous owners...
...so, we moved into our new house on Friday after a fairly drawn out buying process as the seller didn't do anything when they had agreed to. We arrived at the property at 2pm after our estate agent said that we could pick the keys up from the property. On arrival it was quickly evident that the previous owner hadn't…

Kitchen opened up to conservatory
Just looked at a house where the kitchen leads into the conservatory - completely open plan. I know that a conservatory is not a habitable room and that removal of walls or patio doors to open it up to the rest of the house breaches building regulations. Some people I know recently had to reinstate the patio doors that…

Equity Release - is it worth it?
I am looking into Equity Release but wonder if it is a viable option. I am 63, in my own home with no mortgage, financially pretty secure, but have no immediate family to bequeath my estate when I am gone. My home is probably worth £200,000 and I suppose life expectancy to be 20-25 years, so it would make sense to be able…

So letting agent fees to be banned! Am wondering what ways letting agents will find to make up that money - are they simply going to start charging landlords the fees?
