isn't there a thread like this every so often?
On a £30k single income it'd be difficult to afford a 3bed family home even up in the sticks leave alone the SE.
£30kx4=£120k+£60k=£180k<<<<<<<You'd be looking at properties around this price.EU expat working in London0 -

I moved out of London in May this year purely due to the fact that i can get on to the property ladder. With a 30k salary and 60k deposit it may be a struggle even in Greater London. I moved to the Midlands which is great. Would you not consider moving anywhere else?:jFinally going to be a homeowner:T0

Stay in London and surrounds, its grim up north..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Birmingham will have a commutable time to London (49 mins), with HS2, so going that way wouldn't lock you out of London contact forever, though obvs it would be some time away. Worth considering if you can make the mood. Brum isn't beautiful but it has a great atmosphere and attitude I think.0

Well 49 minutes would be less than my current commuting time, but considering the cost of the HS2 project how much will a season ticket cost on HS2 from Birmingham?0

Chatham to St Pancras is 42m on highspeed and £470/month or £4900/year.
It seems OMG so expensive but then even in London you still have to pay transports, if your commute is longer than 49m you must be Zone 3/4? So still £140 a month worth of TfL?
Usually it's a wash but you own the place at the end and travel on better trains!EU expat working in London0 -
