Misled over stamp duty, can I do anything?
Around 9 months ago I purchased a flat in London. At the time of purchase, I was told by the well known property company that because I was going ahead with it during the stamp duty holiday, I would not have to pay it. And now, after securing a mortgage and with legal completion weeks away, I'm told I must find another…

Disputing an inventory at check-in
We recently moved into a house. They provided us with an inventory the day after we moved in. We had performed our own inventory (including some photos) from the moment we walked into the house for the first time so did a comparison and updated it where we felt appropriate. The LA said that they disagreed with some of our…

bit scary experience, needless summons for council tax
background- I signed on at start of July - only online option was given, when you call to start a claim, though you then have to go in to jcp a week or so later, to get 'verified' with your ID, supporting docs etc! The jcp clerk confirmed a claim would be started with local council too, for rent and c/tax. all good so…

Section 13 was never received by tenants
My husband and I have privately rented the same property for 3 years and 2 months. When our tenancy agreement ended on 1st August this year, we had no communication from the LA or LL so assumed our tenancy to have become an AST which was on a rolling month by month basis. Then in the 3rd week of August, we were sent a…
