Moving mortgages from one house to another.
Hi, Just a quick question that I think will start to come up more as people try to hang onto their good base rate tracker mortgages (which will probably never be offered at such good rates again!) So - I have two properties at the moment, both mortgaged. 1: £150k mortgage at 1.49% (base + 0.99 tracker for life). Property…

We used to live in the house opposite, know the neighbours and the area already, and my partner even knows the vendor fairly well as she used to work…

Ripped off on my first house purchase
Hello all, my partner and I recently purchased our first brand new affordable house with the 106 aggreement. With this aggreement we pay 68% of the market value, and when we come to sell we get 68% of the sale price. We were very happy with this thought we could not loose. Unfortunately our timing was very bad, our first…

for londoners:where would you buy a house if you were a foreigner?
Hello all! I am Italian and I have 3 children who are 12, 8 , 6 year old. My husband and I do love London and we would like to buy a little house. We would use it for our holiday and let it when we are in our country. It would be an investment if we gain a fair rent. Moreover, it could be useful for our kids if they like…

why is only the tenants that have to provide references?
Hi, We recently sold our property and temporaily moved into rented, as we are still looking for the next 'dream' house. Many circumstances meant we took a property that wasn't wonderful, just basic, but it had what we needed and more importantly, accepted our 5 beloved cats. After living there for a period of 2 months,…

Self Storage - what's cheapest?
Hi all, Sorry for posting in the home-buyers forum but couldn't find a better one and I see that other self-storage threads are here. But if I want to store stuff for 3-6 months, what's the cheapest option? It's not a lot of stuff - a number of small household appliances and books, no large appliances or furniture. I live…

Valuation and Homebuyers Survey being done separately? Weird?
Has anyone ever heard of this, as it's certainly a new one on me? Buyer's surveyor turned up to inspect our house on Monday and spent 35 minutes here. I had assumed this was the Homebuyers survey our buyers had asked for, but it turned out to be just the valuation (never heard of a valuation taking 35 minutes before -…

Debt Recovery for Money I don't owe
Hello, I recieved a letter at a flat that I let out from Moorcroft Debt Recovery saying "intent of litigation" that I owe Thames Water money. I have never lived in the flat so it's obviously one of my tenants. This is the first I know of this. What are my rights and what steps should I take. Thanks for you advice.
