House prices in Leeds
Just wanted to check the local market. Has anyone in Leeds or thereabouts sold their house for anywhere close to the asking price recently? Ours has been on for 3 months and only had one viewing which suggests it's too expensive, but I'm not that impressed with the EAs either (long story, different thread).

New build houses as long term investments?
There are many attractions to buying a new build house but how do they compare in investment terms with older houses? I realise that buyers usually pay a premium for being the first occupants, but is there any evidence that the houses are harder to sell once they are a few years old?

council homes
how comes when applying for a council home they need to know how much you have in savings and how much is in each of your bank accounts? also why do they ask if you have £6000 or above in savings? is this because if you have over 6k they wont give you one as you have enough for a rented property not on the council?
