Conservatory with plastic roof
I went to see a house yesterday which had conservatory with what looked like a plastic roof. I was nice, but I am wondering what would the noise be like when it rains? It is open plan to the living room, so one can't shut the door. Also, how much would conservatory add to the value of the house and how much does it cost to…

FTB - Gazumped, what next?
Finally, after 3 months of searching I have found a property that I liked. It was on the market for £330k, I've put in an offer for £315k on Monday, which was accepted. However, estate agent would not take the house of the market until valuation is done. On Friday, I had a phonecall that I was dreading - somebody else…

What to do with sale proceeds until I buy new property
It's a long story, but I am selling my house now and expect to complete in December but will probably not be buying immediately - perhaps around March next year or whenever I see the right property at the right price. I wondered about having my solicitor keep the sale proceeds (140K or so) in his client account rather than…

I am aware of sites like upmystreet but these generally give statistical statements which are not very usuable. Indeed how do you folks decide where to buy? I am looking to…

Putting house in joint ownership after buying
I bought a house to rent out and later discovered that if it is in joint names, i.e my wifes also, that increases Capital Gains Tax allowance. Can I now add her name in now (not planning to sell yet) or does that trigger CGT for the period in just my name? Also if I transfer it eventually to my children what is the effect?

Electricty meter in rented flat
HI Does anyone know if you can change suppliers if you are using a token meter in a rented flat. How far does "buyer beware" go?
I am selling to a BTL investor. There are a few niggles that we know about like having not finished off the beading on the laminate floor as we have furniture all the way in front of it & my OH managed to put a hole in the kitchen door which is hollow (we have a poster over it!) You get the idea! If she has not picked up…
