Efficient water heating???
Hi, I usually heat my water using gas central heating boiler. This is old and very inefficient. (I am in the process of saving for a new one) Since central heating is not needed for the summer, I have decided to heat water using electric water heater as I think this will be more energy efficient? My question is, will I use…

Anyone seen this?
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/noPP4polytunnels/ It's a petition to put an end to all the hassle farmers, smallholders and those of us lucky enough to have the space have when wanting a polytunnel. Hi Would anyone know of somewhere to get a good weatherproof sticker to put on a letterbox to try and stop to free newspapers, take away menus, fliers, advertising etc being delivered? I'm so fed up not just with having to recycle all these but also that most of the time they don't even seem to push them all the way…

What would be the eco way to clean a ceramic hob? I'm guess just a microfibre cloth for keeping it clean, but what if something burns on and it's not bad enough for a scrape with the blade - does anyone know what is in those bottles of 'hob brite' or similar products? Would bicarb scratch it?? Many thanks…

can you recycle knackered shoes?
I have lots of pairs of shoes which are too worn out to take to the charity shop. Does anyone know if the shoe banks you get in recycling areas will take them - they ask for pairs, so I've been assuming they want decent ones they can sell on. If not, any other suggestions to keep them out of landfill? Thanks

Recycled bags 99p > 20P
We recently started buying fabric-type recycled bags made up like wallets at 99p each. Then Morrisons started seeling them at 59p and we bought a few more. Today, I saw them in Wilkinsons at 45p, BUT being sold as an "Opening Offer only" at 20p, so we bought more. These are black, have a small "save the world" type logo in…

Wind Up Radios and Torches

Help with plastics
I am making a real effort to recycle as much as I can but am a bit confused on the plastic side of things! Do the triangular symbols on plastic pots tell you whether it is possible to recycle it? If so, which can and cant be recycled? My main issue is with yoghurt pots! Our council collect recycling once a week and provide…

I just received a flier about home energy surveys from https://www.greenhomeslondon.co.uk Has anybody had one of these done and how useful was it?
