Tesco Printer Cartridge Recycling

Wasn't sure where to post this - I have sent about 10 or so printer cartridges off so far to Tesco - does anyone know when the 100 extra points show up on your statement. Just received latest statement and they aren't showing up yet - they were sent probably about 6 weeks ago.

Read somewhere that there is a massive backlog. But it did state that if you have sent them in you will get the points....eventually!!0

I've been waiting since early March. I've been told minimum 10 - 12 weeks. They've put a chase in, but say it could take anywhere from a couple of days to five weeks (!!) to sort. The woman was lovely and apologetic, but there was nothing else she could do. I think they were overwhelmed.0

I had this problem last year, and it took 6 months and heaps of calls, emails and letters before the points were eventually put onto my clubcard!!If you obey all the rules...you miss all the fun!! Katherine Hepburn0

They always get added eventually - it just takes time so patience is a virtue with this one and dont give them too much greif!0

Sorry to hijack the thread slightly, but does anyone know if they take toner cartridges as well as inkjets? After taking a bunch of carrier bags out of my boss' rubbish bin, he's now given me a work cartridge to dispose of in a green way!Overpay!0

This discussion has been covered before on MSE, the issue is not the period of time it takes, it is WHO you sent them to, and WHAT you sent them. Please think about this - do you really think Tesco recycle them themselves?
The biggest issue is that all cartridges will be recycled, but not all have enough value in them for the company who does recycle them to award you points for them - this is the biggest confusion with recycling cartridges (and, in recycling in general!)
The full list of cartridges that redeem clubcard points is on the company that does them now's website:
http://www.therecyclingfactory.com/uk/services/cartridges-clubcard.asp
NOTE: All cartridges that redeem points must not been refilled before!
If you sent them with mobile phones or in bag with a picture of a mobile phone on it, they have been sent to another company called "Greener Solutions", and it will take some time to process, as they have to be transferred to the company that is doing the recycling, "The Recycling Factory", to process for you.
If you used a bag that did not have an address on it saying "FREEPOST ANG3654" etc, or, you sent them before January, then it went to the company who did it last year and your points are probably lost!
Toner units aren't covered by the scheme, but a little digging around their website shows you can arrange a collection for them, and get paid in cash too!! (The same does apply for inkjets and phones BTW!! )
How do I know all this? simple, I had the same queries and I rang the company who is doing the scheme! Their number is 0800 091 06960 -
If you want them collected as well https://www.ukrecycling.net will also take most cartridges (ink/toner) as well as phones.
[Note: this is a charity that I run in my spare time, all funds raised go to UK Childrens Charities - I do not receive any cash from it, at all]Save a life. Learn emergency first aid.
Who knows what might happen tomorrow or who may need help.
Contact your local college or first aid provider to enquire about free courses in your area.
Already a first aider? Have you updated your first aid to the new 2005 guidelines? Most providers should now be training the new (and more effective) CPR protocols, see if they are offering refresher courses near you.0 -

Not strictly true - the only ones I send back to Tesco are ones I have refilled no less than 8 times each and I have always had my points credited. Especially good as its the remanafactured ones I buy in the first place0 -

Unless you have put a plug in it - there is no way of knowing it has been refilled, therefore it is sucessfully recycled.0
