Wind Up Radios and Torches

Options
I am thinking of buying a wind-up radio. Does anyone have one - which are recommended and what is the sound quality? I am looking at a Freeplay one which also has a solar panel so the radio charges itself if left in the sunshine.

Also - wind-up torches - any recommendations?

Thanks.

I have the freeplay radio that you describe. I can definitely recommend the one with the solar panel, as I'm too lazy to keep winding it - the sound qulity is good when wound, but deteriorates as it runs down. I use mine in the garden, and it doesn't need winding at all. Not the same indoors though - not enough light in my quite dark house to keep it going without needing to be wound. Still. I reckon its saved me a fortune in batteries, and I can use it outside without wires trailing, so if it died I'd definitely get another one.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I want a radio I can keep in my summerhouse so this model sounds ideal. My "kitchen" radio has rechargeable batteries and is also able to be plugged into the mains. Semi-ideal but hate the trailing wire and the batteries running down during a crucial point of an interesting item/radio play.

    Thanks!

    Hi
Just seen & brought the eyemax wind up /solar powered radio from argos they have reduced it to £14.99 cat number 500/0201. not tried it yet but sounds from the box brilliant up to 140 mins play on a 2 min wind up fully charged will play for up to 25 hours.

we've had a Freeplay that we were very happy with - used on mains power and wind up battery... after a couple fo yesrs of pretty heavy use though the battery no longer holds power for any length of time on a wind up and the jack for the mains lead is broken so I'm trying to get it fixed - it's a bit chunky if you want to travel with it but otherwise good for a little radio.

is it worth getting a digital one?

because analoge is going to be switched off soon.

i have a freeplay one already, but considering a digital one for this reason.

maybe thats why you can get the other wind-ups so cheaply?
