Cheaper Tariff - the energy companies duty to advise
Hi all, I did a quick search and couldn't find exactly what I needed so hopefully this isn't a duplicate post. I've just discovered, after 4 years of being in our house, that we're on an economy 7 meter and, therefore, a tariff where day time electric is substantially more than night time electric (17p vs 5.6p). It all…

We've just bought a house with a Scottish Power dual fuel smart meter. Looking at the display unit you can select Year as a time frame. However, is this year to date or the past twelve months? Thanks.

Switching EDF to EON
Initiated a switch from EDF to EON on the 20th last month through CEC and not heard a thing from either company yet. Is this normal? I got the confirmation from CEC but that is it. I have only switched once before and that was for Gas (British Gas to Zog), I'm pretty sure I heard something almost straight away, even though…

Standing charges leap by 100%
Why is this happening and why is the toothless regulator #ofgem allowing it? My current deal ends at the end of July and my standing charges were typically 10p per day per fuel. Now everywherei look its typically 20p per day per fuel and up. I can find no explanation for it.

New tenant
Hi 👋 I moved into my rented flat in mid March, since then I've been trying relentlessly to set up an account with the previously chosen energy supplier. After sending my details via the new tenancy form on their site and hearing nothing, I then sent my details directly via email and heard nothing, I then began to phone…

£20k EDF bill out of the blue! They haven't taken a reading since 2013
Hoping someone can help, EDF attempted to take £20k as their direct debit, after phone calls back and forth, and providing a meter reading I was shocked to find it wasn't a mistake, and that the last reading they took was in 2013, they had estimated since, and estimated incorrectly. They now want £20,000 asap. They are…

E-ON Gas Pre-payment meter and electricity direct debit has doubled
Unfortunately, I'm having more problem with E-On. I see their company represnetatives are still on this forum so I hope one of you can help me. Recently I was sent a letter telling me my direct debit was going to increase from £30 to £78. Over two and a half time the last rate. I've questioned it a number of times and all…

SSE Superdeal - v - Economy 7
We are about to move into 1 bedroom property that has SSE Superdeal but have no idea if this is better than Economy 7. Anyone had Superdeal. The property only has 1 Storage Heater, an Unvented hot water tank. The other heating is a standard convector heater on the bedroom wall and a heated towel rail in the bathroom. There…

Boiler or emersion in the summer months
Hi, i am not sure if anyone has done any calculations. But is it better to heat my hot water with my LPG boiler or just use the immersion heater. I have a modern LPG boiler heating a 125LT tank that is very well insulated & it has a 36" top fitting immersion. The boiler is only around 6 feet from the tank on a fully pumped…

The Switch Date
Have just spoken to a proposed new supplier (dual fuel) about the switch date (which is appx 17 days). But my current (Single) deals are cheaper and expire on 9th Aug & 31st Aug; so I would like to get the full benefit. So either I lose some of my current good deal (as any switch is more expensive) or I risk paying Deemed…

eon - Be aware
For those of you thinking about switching to eon be very aware as their customer service is absolutely appalling. The process takes far too long, they don't respond to complaints but worse still the deal you end up with is more expensive than the one quoted to get your business. Without doubt they are the worst utility…

Smart meter questions
I'm sure these questions have been asked on here before, so my apologies - I've looked and not been able to find. Utility Warehouse are offering us smart meters for our gas and electric free of charge. So, obviously, I'm thinking about it - what I need to know is - At the top of their letter they say 'Your electricity and…

Hoping someone can remember.....
A few months ago I was looking very seriously at a new boiler via company I'd seen online and advertised on TV. They were advertising a new A rated boiler fully installed for £1770, I did some homework and it looked really good. I decided to put the purchase on the back-burner though as I was going through redundancy and…

Faulty Meter
Just looking for a bit of advice. I've recently moved into a new house and have been taking gas meter readings monthly. I've noticed the reading are quite a lot higher than my sisters (I am single and she has two children and a husband). I have switched off my gas and the meter is still using more units than my sisters.…
