eon - Be aware
For those of you thinking about switching to eon be very aware as their customer service is absolutely appalling. The process takes far too long, they don't respond to complaints but worse still the deal you end up with is more expensive than the one quoted to get your business. Without doubt they are the worst utility company I have ever come across... STAY AWAY from them - they may offer a great online deal but that is not what you end up with.

Just for balance I switched from them recently but only because a very cheap deal had come to an end. I only had one issue which was sorted by the rep on here. Imo they are light years ahead of one particular previous supplier and I would return to them in a heartbeat if they could offer some better deals.
Are you saying you signed up for one deal but were given another? Or are you saying that an online deal did not exist and you were somehow conned into taking a different one :huh:0 -
Personally, I've never had a problem switching E.on tariffs or with their customer service.
If you message the E.on reps at the address provided in their profiles, I'm sure they will be more than happy to help with any problems. :whistle:Fred - Where's your get up and go?
Barney - It just got up and went.

Good afternoon Greg Limb and welcome to the forums.
I'm sorry to read that you've had such a poor experience with us.
It does sound like there may have been a delay in changing to us, this can be for many reasons and can happen when the information is passed from one supplier to the other via the third parties.
The quote you receive either by phone, our website or comparison site should be the one you go in to. The unit prices will be the same.
I am speculating, but it sounds like you may have had a quote and used a monthly amount in £spend. We would always say to do a quote using your actual kWh from the previous year as this is more accurate.
You may have been given a Direct Debit figure in a quote, but this may have been increased to cover the actual usage once we could see what sort of amounts were being used.
The complaints process is something that we really do have to stick to, you should have been given a complaints manager when you first raised the issues, this would then go through the steps until either deadlock or resolution. (The steps are on the website, I'm sorry I can't post links)
It doesn't sound like you've had a great time with us and I am sorry. It sounds like you have now changed supplier, but I'm here to help you if you need me.

No - sadly I'm still with eon and my issues remain unresolved. I'm dealing with someone called Esma but not really getting anywhere. My quote was based on usage and the quote I was sent initially has gone up considerably now that I'm signed up. Can't believe how badly my issues have been dealt with and how long the whole process has taken. Lots of lies told by eon along the way..0

Were you working off of estimated monthly direct debit figures perhaps?0 -
The quote I got from eon was based on X kwh for electricity and Y kwh for gas and what the monthly direct debit would be. When they got round to swapping my supplies over to eon I then was told that my direct debits were considerably more expensive. Truthfully, eon couldn't care less.. they have me signed up on a 12 month contract with penalties if I break and have basically lied through their teeth throughout the process. That's why I'm trying to warn people to stay well away from having their utilities provided by eon.0

When you initiate a switch, the gaining supplier is given two consumption figures: the Estimated Annual Consumption for electricity and Annual Quantity for gas. This might explain why the DD has been set at a higher amount. That said, you will only pay for the energy that you consume at the agreed tariff rates. If a gaining supplier has taken more than 35 days to take over your supply then they have breached their Supply Licence Conditions. I would report the supplier to consumeraffairs@ofgem.gov.uk0 -

The direct debit figures are meaningless anyway, you will not pay for more than you consume so you can rest easy. If your direct debits are high now, they will only be lower at a later date.0 -
Greg
I read my meter every month and the supplier produces an online bill so I can compare the cost of my actual usage with my direct debit and see if I am underpaying or overpaying. Is that the case with you and if so is it that you are substantially overpaying?
Or is your DD a reasonable reflection of your actual usage - it's just that the quote was lower?0 -
So exactly what I said.
