Is USwitch impartial?
Had a cold call from Scottish Power, who claimed to be cheaper than my current supplier even though he didn't know who it is or what tariff I am on! I said no thanks, I know I'm on the cheapest tariff as I check regular on USwitch. The Scottish Power chap claimed that USwitch is not impartial and companies pay USwitch to…

Are pre-payment meters that bad?
My friend has one for the gas and one for the electric, and she has been using roughly £1.20 a day for the electric and about 80 pence a day for the gas, since she moved to her 2 bed house about 3 months ago. The pre-payment meters were already there, and she just hasn't got round to getting them changed yet, I am guessing…

Eon complaint
A few months after joining Eon I realised my DD's hadn't been set up, a £380 gas bill landed through my door so I contacted them. I spoke to an advisor who told me my usage was £90pm combined so I agreed to pay £100 to chip away at the debt. A few months after a £400 electric bill arrived. I rang & the advisor was nearing…

Request
Please could we have some kind of reminder when the first of the month comes around? So I can stick to my New Year's resolution to read the meters?! If it came bundled with a reminder of the benefits of signing up for the energy club, that might help focus minds?! (Mods, please move this to wherever you think it'll help…

Next long term fixed price tariff?
For my sins I'm with EDF's Fixed Price 2014 which expires next March, however looking at websites like Energyhelpline.com I can't see any other long term fixed price tariffs that go beyond mid 2014. Does anyone know when the energy companies will be bringing out their next batch of long term fixed price tariffs?

Energy Switch Cashback
Having recently used the price comparison site for energy suppliers, I was expecting to receive £80 cashback into my bank account. Although the cashback was paid promptly, it was only £50. I am having problems of knowing how to make contact with the relevant part of the site which can address the problem. Any ideas?…

Combination or conventional boiler
My boilers packed up and I am considering a combination boiler but just wanted to canvass opinion. In the summer the top of the house gets very hot which would be an advantage. We are a family of 3. Thanks for your help.

What's a normal amount to pay for gas?
House is 2 up/2 down small terrace, electric oven and hob, combi-boiler is approx. 3 years old. 1 shower per day and central heating only used in the kid's bedroom during winter. Downstairs is heated by a wood burning fire in the living room. Soft water if that matters, and newly insulated approx. 4 years ago. Given all…

Energy Efficiency of Fridge/Freezers
I recently bought a new fridge/freezer, partly on the advertised (on manufacturers website and in store) Energy Efficiency figures. The new machine is using around 75percent more than the figures given in the ' delegate regulation (EU) no, 1060/2010' supplied with the unit. In the paperwork the manufacturer suffixes the…

Replacement Boiler
Hi I recently has an engineer call to assess my need for a free replacement boiler. I receive pension credits and my boiler is over 10 years old. The engineer informed me that as my boiler was working, I did not qualify for a free replacement boiler. Is this true? Does a boiler have to be broken in order to qualify? Many…

Scammers claiming to be from Swalec?
Can anyone tell me if this is real or not? Backstory. I moved house in July last year. When I moved I gave my final readings to Swalec, was told that my account was in credit (by about £30 if I remember correctly), and that my new address was also supplied by Swalec so they'd just transfer the account over to the new…

Warning! Economy 7
I had a new meter fitted by EDF in 2005 to convert to economy 7. I seemed to be paying more, despite having the high usage appliances timed for during the night-after being assured by EDF everything was on cheap rate between 0030-0730 hours I put it down to the price increases. In 2011 I was fitting an "OWL" electricity…

Npower billing system glitch in customers favour
Twice now I have had a glitch in my npower bills in my favour - due to my individual circumstances I have only gained by about £20 to £30 IIRC but potentially its possible to have a bill for £100s less than it should be In summary what has happened is that the start date of the latest bill does not match the end date of…

New house - switching provider
Hello, We're just moving into our new house- got the keys last Friday and took readings of the meters. The electric and gas are both with NPower. My partner has had a bad experience to the tune of £7000 in the past with NPower where the OFT had to get involved. So we want as little as possible to do with NPower! I'll get…
