I'm actually with Scottish Power who read my meters a few months ago even though I put my readings in every time they ask me too online.. then today I get a letter from Siemans asking me for my Gas meter only…

If my fixed energy deal ends 30/8 can I set wheels
In motion to change, or do I have to wait until after that date? Knowing that the transfer can take 8-12 weeks, wondered if I could apply sooner. Thanks

Inexplicable electricty usage
I moved house in February and have been monitoring my electricity usage. I appear to be using 10-11 Kwh every 24 hours, which I find totally inexplicable. My electricity usage monitor and meter are in agreement on usage. Occasionally there is a day where 6-7 Kwh is used. The high usage seems to be overnight and during the…

Gas saving from cavity wall insulation?
Anyone who has had cavity wall insulation installed can they quantify what saving it has made to your gas bill please? x amount of £'s off your gas bill? We are moving into a new house soon and were surprised to hear it doesn't have cavity wall insulation despite being only 9 years old. I thought all new-ish builds had…

Which supplier, new customer
Apologies if cross posting, found a utilities thread but it ended up being closed. Moving into a flat and currently looking for a supplier (electricity only). Basically I just want to know who is the best value - with all the comparison sites you have to enter details of your current policy but this doesn't apply to me as…

Problem with your supplier - don't underestimate Twitter!
Apologies in advance for a fairly long post, however I would like to share this with other MSE users, hopefully it may help somebody else. To give you a bit of background, we moved into our flat last may and in August switched to a Dual Fuel tariff (Fixed S@ver 2) with EDF. The closing bill from the previous supplier had…

The edf DD lottery
As an unpaid meter reader I sent them my readings the other day. I'm , lets call it £74 in credit after getting the bill. If I use the same in the next 12 months it will cost £1176. So how much should the DD be? I would guess at (1176-74)/12 which when I went to school was around £92. So what do you think edf want? The…

EON Prepayment bill in credit?!
Hi, I have both my electricity and gas from EON, both on prepayment meters. I received and email today saying my bills where ready to read on line. Have had a look at them, and the electricity says my current balance is £208.40 credit, and my gas is £12.17. I have called EON this morning to ask them to explain it, ie. does…

OVO - Will They Negotiate?
I'm currently with OVO, but my fixed rate will expire soon. They've offered me a new fixed rate deal which would mean an increase of about 10% in cost. If I were to move elsewhere I could get that down to about a 4% increase along with a bit of cashback. Does anybody know if they'll ever try and negotiate a deal if you…

MSE MoneySupermarket cashback confirmation
Hi, I've just changed energy supplier using MoneySupermarket via a link on the MSE site. The link stated that I would get £70 cash-back (several weeks in the future). At no point through the application form on MS, or in the terms and conditions, or in the confirmation email, is the cash-back mentioned. So I'm supposed to…

Changing Suppliers - Confused
Sorry if this is a silly post: I'm currently with N Power on their Dual Fuel Standard Pre-payment tariff and I'm desperately trying to save as many pennies as i can throughout my household. I've rang N Power about my bills and this is the information they have given me: GAS: Daily Standard Rate 34.13p per day Rate: 3.701…

Which NPower tariff? Very confusing!
Hi all, I have come to the end of my NPower tariff which was a fixed price for 12 months. NPower have put me on the standard tariff now, but have suggested I will save £30 if I go on the 'energy online' tariff (of course, I'd rather research myself). I don't want to switch providers as it's lots of hassle and they're all…

Basically I moved into a rental property with 3 housemates on the 1st of July 2011, on a 1-year contract. Our landlords advised us to…
