How much for a house rewire

I've had an electrical report done on the house and been told the whole house requires rewiring. The last rewire was in 1973 so probably due a rewire. There is an old form of trip switches so no new consumer unit. The house is a three bed semi with 1 bathroom and 2 reception rooms. Also need spotlights replacing in 3 rooms with single lights. Theres roughly 20 double sockets to replace, shower circuit, light switches for each light about 3 two ways, extractor fan, 2 outside lights. Also doing the plastering, and cutting in ourselves. Been quoted just over £3000 is this reasonable?

Why does it need rewiring? Who did the report? Not done as part of some "free survey / safety check" & not some electricity salesman I hope?
Unless you have or had serious problems your 1973 wiring should be fine, there are millions of houses like yours, PVC wiring, twin & earthWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0
