Changing Suppliers - Confused

Sorry if this is a silly post:

I'm currently with N Power on their Dual Fuel Standard Pre-payment tariff and I'm desperately trying to save as many pennies as i can throughout my household.

I've rang N Power about my bills and this is the information they have given me:

GAS: Daily Standard Rate 34.13p per day
Rate: 3.701 per year

Average bill works out at 0.88p per day / £6.19 per week

ELEC: Daily Standard Rate 8.09p per day
Rate: 14.51 per year

Average bill works out at 1.23p per day / £8.60 per week - Includes daily standard rate and 5% VAT

Now - I'm very naieve with gas/elec and this means squibble to me.

I asked whether I would be cheaper on Direct Debit - Works out roughly £3 cheaper per month if i was. They also said every year they give customers £100 as a "bonus" for paying by direct debit. It will cost me £120 to change over to DD (£60 per metre)

The whole daily rate and yearly rate etc confuse me - i know that some companies have a different tarif at set times if you go over a set amount etc - N Power told me I am better off with them (But obviously they WOULD say that)

How would i compare companies if they dont all do this daily rate charge and others do different versions...

If, The above prices include everything does that mean my annual bills are:

GAS: 0.88p p/d x 365days = £321.20
ELEC: £1.23 p/d x 365 days = £448.95

Are these the figures i need to be using to compare?

Sorry - I realise im probably asking something REALLY simple but its confusing the heck outta me :o I dont even know if thats a good rate or not :rotfl::o:eek:

    Use a comparison website.

If you want the meters changed free, suppliers often waive the fees to retain you or gain you.

    See this article.

  • Have you asked them for your Kw usage i do mine by usage rather than price as it is totally bamboozling all of the different rates even in the same supplier i then enter the usage into price comparison sites. You can also re enter them with different payment methods to compare.
So you're Red John? I have to say I'm a little disappointed.
