Boiler problems - anti cycling mode?
Hi all, Hope someone can help with this one. In my flat, I have a Vaillant Turbomax boiler and have noticed that it repeatedly enters anti-cycling mode when firing. In essence, when the boiler heats up to temperature, it will run for several minutes and then enter anti-cycling mode (I assume to avoid unnecessary wear).…

Removing Economy 7 Meter / ECH
My boyfriend and I are moving into a new flat soon hopefully. It has wet electric central heating and currently has an Economy 7 meter. We don't like the thought of having to get up in the middle of the night to do our laundry, and we don't have an immersion shower, so we think we would be better off on a single rate…

Electric vs Oil conundrum.
I'm looking at moving into a bungalow that is currently serviced by an old oil boiler, with an oil tank that supplies radiators and hot water. I am dubious about an oil system (cost) and could do with advice on having a Heatrae Sadia megaflow unvented cylinder that acts pretty much as a combi boiler. It would only be for…

How much gas should we use
Hi, We like many i suspect are on a bit of an economy drive - and my wife has been keeping an eye on our usage. She is a bit alarmed at our gas usage - but I've no idea on how to tell if we are using about the right amount (as she is worried we are using too much). I've just done a test today - heating set to 20, heating a…

Damage caused by British Gas during cavity wall installation
My mother (who is a Senior citizen) had cavity wall installation fitted for free, under the British gas scheme, earlier this year (in March).During the work, they accidentally broke a wall light (which incidentally was of great sentimental value). The fitters said that BG would pay for it to be repaired, but fortunately, I…
