Guys
Wondering whether it is cheaper/better to heat one room with central heating or gas? Bearing in mind that the cost of either, the time it take to heat the water and for it to circulate. Thanks!

Central heating or gas?
What do you mean by heating with gas?
It will depend on the efficiency of the gas appliance you're heating with, and your boiler, and your boiler pipework.
The easiest way is to try it.
Over a couple of 6 hour periods with similar outside temperatures and winds, try it both ways.

With central heating, you need to install a boiler, bury copper pipes and install radiators. With gas, you just need a Bunsen burner, and a rubber hose from the gas meter.0

I think I shot myself in the foot. I was actually referring to central heating or electricity. In a nutshell, I am wondering whether it makes more sense to switch on central heating to heat one room or to use a small heater fan instead or one of these electrical oil heaters instead. Links are a man's best friends.com0

KWh for kWh, it it costs approx 3 times as much to heat by electricity as gas.
However if you intend to run your CH with only one rad on, then it's not going to be working very efficiently. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Where is the thermostat?
Best to have it in the same room, so it tells the boiler to turn the flame down when target temperature is reached.
In principle, gas is cheaper.0
