Changing from prepay to credit meters?
The other half has prepay meters for both gas & electric with British Gas. With not getting the benefits of the online deals available with credit meters we looked into having the meters changed to credit meters. I understand that with B/gas you don’t have to pay for the meters even if you change supplier shortly after…

Switching E-On Tarriffs
I am currently on E-On's Saveonline 5 tarriff, but it appears their Saveonline 9 tarriff is now cheaper. I had a look at switching in online but it says there is a £30 cancellation fee for my current tarriff. Does anyone know if this still stands if switching to another E-On tarriff? Cheers.

Optimal Boiler Settings
Hi I was surprised not to find any info on this topic on the MSE website so I did a little investigation and testing, thought this might be of interest. It relates to gas central heating with an old boiler, and hot water tank. 1. Is it cheaper to have the heating on all day (tick over) or heat up from scratch again morning…

A couple of queries to Eon rep please?
Hi, 1st one is I read my electricity meter, as asked to by Eon via an email reminder, ready for our quarterly bill. We have always provided actual readings. Shortly after I'd paid the bill, someone came to read the meter?? I said I had paid the bill, and the reply was: "Don't worry, we often do this." Now I feel as though…

Economy 7 meter i didnt know i had, is a big issue with my supplier
Call me green but I didn’t even realize that there were different types of electric meters until Sunday. It wasn’t until my supplier told me that the meter reader got the total mixed up for the night rate with my economy seven tariff. I explained that I wasn’t aware I was on an E7 tariff and when I signed up through energy…

cheaper admin vs cheaper fuel
Just had a look at some of the comparison sites (as I have always done). I have only 3 choices that are cheaper than the EDF standard rate which I have just been moved on to. However two are still EDF (one is the fixed rate )and the prices per unit appears to be more expensive as well as the daily charge than the standard…

Fixed Price Tarriff Ending and Moving
Hi I am real novice when it comes to fixing energy prices but I did do it around 18 months ago and it's coming to an end in September. Problem is I am in contract negotiations to move. Can you fix your energy and take it with you or am I better waiting until I move? I've no idea. Many thanks for any pointers.

Hi, My mum applied last year for central heating to be fitted in her rented flat as she has electric storage heaters which she cannot afford to run, however with the whole benefits system changing in April 2011, she has just been told that she is no longer entitled to it as she is on incap rather than esa. DWP have…

gas or electric boiler running costs
Hi there, This is a reasonably common topic, but couldn't find a decent enough answer. Because of various restrictions due to having a gas boiler on a se duct (internal chimney), I am considering an electric boiler. I have a 1 bed flat (5 radiators), if I get a 6kW electric boiler and get the econ 10 tariff, am I right to…

Why would the electric board put my meter in a field ?
I had a new mains supply fitted to my stable yard and for some reason they put the meter in a housing across a field rather than in the haybarn with the fuse box etc. The problem is that I'm always getting cards left saying they can't access the property to read the meter so everytime we get a card left we ring to advise…

Eon sales rep just knocked my door and...
A chap from Eon just told me that the welsh assembly government have asked them to offer advice to residents in Cardiff following complaints about energy price rises! Fairly sure the advice would have been to switch to Eon! AM and Eon complaints team duly emailed! This is why door to door sales are being suspended by SSE…
