Hi

My go-fix one year deal with npower is about to come to an end and I would like to look at getting a better deal from one of the other companies.

I cannot remember when my one-year npower deal started, all I know is that it was sometime in October of last year and was called go-fix.

I want to avoid a charge from leving npower too early, but I also want to avoid going back to npowers standard tariff.

How do I go about arranging this, so that the date of the new deal which I find co-incides with the end of the npower deal.

Many thanks

    Look on your bill maybe.

    Ask the company.

When I left Eon earlier in the year, I was already shopping around like you. They did send me a letter to tell me my tariff was due to expire about 4 weeks in advance giving me details of their competitive tariffs.

I also managed my account online and they provided an email alert too.

Looked at bill = 12th october.
Should I be looking into the swtich now, or leave it until 12sept.
Will Uswitch take care of it so that the dates co-incide?

    thanks
  • No uswitch can not time the switch for you you are safe to start a change of supply now tho as transfer date to new company will be after 12th October, approx 15-20th october would be your start date

Hi bundance - The chances are that the n'power tariff you are on has a year-end Cash- Back credit feature worth over £100, but to qualify you will have to have made 12 consecutive monthly Direct Debit payments in the past 12 months.

If you move before you have completed the 12 D/D's you will lose the credit, so it's worth looking at the position of a cheaper supplier v the credit - You can always move as soon as you are certain you have qualified for it.

    Hi.
    Sorry to bump.
Sorry to sound dense, but how can I tell if my current tarrif has an £100 cashback scheme.

    Thanks

    Sorry to bump this

I found out from Npower that my year with them on go-fix is up on the 13th October, but I have to stay with them until 31st October on a go-save standard tarriff, to qualify for the £100 credit.

My question is this, is it too early to arrange a switch?

    Many thanks

    Yes!

Transfers typically take between 4 to 6 weeks. You will not pay (much) extra if you go onto a standard tariff for a few weeks, but will lose £100 if you get the timing wrong.

    Hardly worth the risk.

Another illustration of NPower's essentially anti competive 'deferred discount' policy.
