Where do I stand?
If EDF cancelled one half of my DD in December 2009? My bank had sufficient funds in it and Santander did not inform me as they say that they only write to confirm if a customer cancels a DD. I'm still paying my Electricity DD, but why would they do this? They can't give me a reason so I'm wondering what my legal position…

Social tariff on pre-pay meters?
Hello. My sister is on her own with her children and on benefits. Gas and electric are pre-pay meters. She says she is on a standard tariff. Is there a cheaper tariff for people on benefits? Or because she uses pre-pay, is she stuck paying more for her energy than someone on direct debit? Thanks for any replies.

Scottish Power Final Bill: That cant be right!!!
Hi I have been with Scottish Power for 6 months roughly give or take, but am now leaving for another provider. I have steadily and dutifully paid my dues through the prepayment meters and never gone into emergency credit. After the 6 months i got the dual fuel cheque for £35 and was quite impressed with them as a company…

British gas contract roll over
Hello people, I've just realised that British Gas have rolled over my contract without even telling me, and now they say i'm locked into a 12 month contract at higher rates - not nice when you run a small business! They claim they sent me a renewal letter but I don't recall receiving it and usually I file everything they…

Cavity walls - Mark Group
This is what I've sent to the Mark Group on their "How was our service" form: "Concerning your cavity wall insulation service. This company seems to be a bit of a joke really. Last year your people were going door to door offering the reduced rate loft and cavity wall insulation (£99 each). So we were booked to have both…

Paying a lump sum when usually paying by dd
Hi I'm with Scottish Power for electricity, and last year (probably about July time) got clobbered with a massive bill as the amount I was paying monthly obviously wasn't enough (and stupidly I forgot to supply actual readings and it had been going off estimated for about 18 months- I know, me bad). Anyway, SP increased my…

new customer...
Myself and my partner are looking to buy our own house in the next few months, and one of the many new hurdles is which energy suppliers do we go for? We have no ties to any companies at the moment so any pointers would be great. We are living in the South East of London.

To fix or not to fix
I know this is the million dollar question, but I'm at the end of my fix. Was on EON Fixonline v4 paying £512/year. Their new price fix is Price Protection 2013 at £700/year a nice £188/year. Best fix I can see is OVO New Energy Plan at £543/year so not a lot more but not sure what they are like. Best non fix seems to be…

I'm think about switching, is it complicated?
Just wandering what the procedure is on switching online. And whether you need to be at home waiting for an engineer to visit, and how long it takes to switch? Are there any procedural differences in switching to a different tariff on the same company and switching to a different company? cheers.

Hi All, My partner was left facing a gas usage bill for £800 due to a damaged heating controller, it's since been repaired but at the time left the heating on constantly for 2-3 months solid! Selecting a gas and/or electricity supplier
Hi Folks As you know, all suppliers are constantly raising their prices and it can sometimes be difficult to pick the cheapest supplier. For example, some may charge a certain rate for a certain number of units consumed, while others may give discounts if the deal is done on line, or if I get both gas & elec from them. How…
