Gas prepayment meter
Hi everybody. I have just moved into a new flat. Both the meters are prepayment. The electric meter is fine. The gas one seems to be guzzling up the credit. It is a metric meter and the boiler is an old style one that has a water tank that needs to be heated up. I tried just turning the boiler on for two hours to check it…

What kind of water heater is this?
Hi all, Since we moved to this house, I've seen this different kind of water heater which always seems to be on. Here are the pictures of the heater : I would like to know what kind of heater is this? It is always on. Am I using a lot of electricity by this ? Or does it work by gas ? Our electricity bills reach easily…

Monitormyusage
I am sure I found a link to monitormyusage dot com here in this forum some months ago, the site gave you options to enter your fuel costs and meter readings to keep an accurate track of how much energy you were using and how much it costs. I entered weekly readings for both gas and electricity for the last 6 months but…

IGT Why ?

Changing supplier (From British Gas)
Since reading and posting on here not long ago, I am amazed how much details/help are given and how much money people have managed to save. It has really helped and I was wondering if anyone could advise me on this. We moved in to a two bed flat late last year and obviously started with both gas and electric with British…

Why not just ban tiered pricing and standing charges?
It's clear to everyone that comparing energy prices is made deliberately impossible by the energy companies. So much so that an entire industry of price comparison websites has appeared. Why doesn't the government (or regulator or whoever) just ban tiered pricing and standing charges so that we can compare prices easily…

Is Scottish Power really this cheap?
Hi all, I've stuck with Scottish Power since I moved into my house in 2005. I've opted for fixed rate deals and gone for online billing etc. for as many discounts as possible and although frequently checking Uswitch etc. it seems to stay very competitive...? For example last year I used roughly 3264KwH of Electric and…

Gas meter replacement
I am with scottish power. I was talking with my two neighbours and they are both with BG. They told me they have their gas meter replaced by BG. I wonder whether I should contact SP to see whether mine needs replacing as well. The neighbours were told by BG that their meters are too old. Thanks

EON and cashback... .
All of the comparison sites tell me that EON is a couple of hundred pounds cheaper for my electricity so I intend to switch. Energyhelpline will give me £15 cashback so I thought that I would check Quidco and it says that 'EON is coming soon'. Is it worth me waiting for higher cashback from Quidco, do you think...?

Scottish Power tried to con me when switching!
BEWARE OF SCOTTISH POWER! I have just switched from Scottish Power to E.ON for both gas and electricity to improve the deal I am on. I gave my final readings to E.ON on 02/07/09, and as a "belt and braces" measure, I also logged onto my Scottish Power account at the same time, and inputted these readings into my account so…

Am I using a lot of electricity?
I've finally taken the plunge and moved out of my parents and into a place of my own. A 1 bed flat, 1 person. I have gas combi boiler and a gas hob and electric oven. I'm using about 7kwh per day, is that high for 1 person? The oven is on for about 90 mins a day and is just a bog standard elec oven not a fan oven. I have…
