Gas meter replacement
I am with scottish power. I was talking with my two neighbours and they are both with BG. They told me they have their gas meter replaced by BG. I wonder whether I should contact SP to see whether mine needs replacing as well. The neighbours were told by BG that their meters are too old. Thanks

Don't worry about this.
The largest Meter Asset Manager (MAM) in the UK is National Grid Metering (NGM). BG no longer wish to use NGM to look after the meters and are using a company called OnStream to exchange the meters so that OnStream then becomes the MAM. OnStream must charge less for the service of looking after the meter.
Scottish Power still use NGM as their MAM and when the time comes to change the meter NGM will send you a letter. There are millions of meters out there and its going to take time to get roudn them all. Your neighbours' have been done before you as OnStream focuses purely on BG customers.
I you phone Scottish Power to ask for your meter to be changed they will probably charge you. They will get round to it eventually! Besides if an older meter is going to be inaccurate it will more than likely be in your favour.
Hope this helps.0 -
National Grid Metering and Onstream both appear to be subsidiaries of National Grid."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

bg is in the process of taking over onstream so technically it is no longer part of ng - not sure when it all goes over to bg as it is a gradual processI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0
