Electricity Vs Gas
I'm about to replace my old gas hob & oven. I'm tempted to go for electric as the appliances are much cheaper, also I'd need to go for flame failure devices as I might rent my place out in the future. Has anyone ever successfully compared, say, the cost of cooking a roast dinner on gas vs electricity? My Mum always told me…

Too High Electricity Bills - Advice?
You guys are clearly a knowledgeable bunch.. I wonder if you could help me out here. I'm checking around on comparisons on request from my mother as when I saw that she's paying £140/month for electricity (no gas) from Eon I said it seems too high. Is it just me or does that seem steep? We are on Economy10 Electric, so we…

If Scottish Power raiset their prices soon, will I be affected?
I've got to admit that I've not been following all of the price rises from different companies recently, but an article in last Sunday's Times caught my eye. It stated that Scottish Power are due to raise their standard prices soon. I am on the 'Online Energy Saver 4' tariff. If Scottish Power raise their prices, would the…

EDF now charging extra for those who have independent gas transporter
Just received written notification from EDF of the price increase - I'm on online v5. They're also now going to charge 11.5p per day for those on an IGT - there used to be no charge for those on dual fuel. Bit of a blow as I hadn't budgeted for that - it's an extra £42 pa on top of the increase. Are there any other…

Npower ripped us off
Does anyone have any ideas how to get the £344 Npower has stolen from my partner? About 2 years ago my partner Emma moved out of the house she rented from her mother. The electricity supplier was Npower and a final bill was paid in full. Mother put the house up for sale. The house took quite a while to sell and so Npower…

British Gas Homecare
Ive always praised up BGHC and even recommended it to others but I have found myself in the position of being far from happy. Would an electric fire and a tumble dryer be more economic than the gch being on 24/7
We have recently moved to a period terrace from a new build semi, (rented) we have been on estimated combined gas and electricity for the last 4 years. After giving our final meter reading when we moved out we have been landed with a £1600 bill, neither me or my housemate can afford, so we have had no choice but to go on a…

Scottish Hydro sending low estimated bills
:mad:Beware. Scottish Hydro waited until the day of their massive price hike to send out their low, estimated bills. They really annoy me as I send in quarterly online readings, a meter reader comes out also. To my mind they are not estimates but careful calculations. Many people would hear the bad news, get their bill and…

Advice please! For the past two years I have been paying my gas provider, Swalec, around £30 a month for fuel.
