  • juless - my suggestion to you would be to ring British Gas and ask them to give you comparison rates for their capped prices against their 'Click Energy 5' tariff which is the cheapest out of all energy companies on the market right now. If you like what you hear, switch to that tariff for your electric asap and change your gas tariff when your fixed rate ends in Dec 08. Let me know how you get on.

I have just contacted B.Gas who supply me dual fuel, spoke with Louise who couldn't have been more helpful- a pleasure. I have used over the past 12 months-
    3135 units of gas.kwh
    4152 units of electricity.kwh
They have recommended I move from there standard charge- I didn't want to fix after reading Martin's advice , to click energy 5 duel fuel which will cost - Gas 5.968p per kWh
    2.504p per kWh above 2680 kWh p.a
    Electricity
    22.69p per kWh
    7.43p per kWh above 500 kWh p.a
Louise said this was currently the best on the market. I have just used U-switch and used my exact usage figures as above and my calculated annual price will be £439 a current saving of Save £140.98.

Just be a little careful as BGas did not increase the Click 5 tariff when they increased prices earlier this month. This follows their normal practice of raising the online tariffs some weeks later (5-6 weeks?)
If I was cynical I could say this was to ensure click 5 showed up as best on the comparison sites to tempt people like you to switch to them.

PS Sorry, I am no lady.

Juless, now you have your annual consumption figures try u-switch and look at the prices. Gas seems to be linked to oil prices and and they have dropped from $145 to $113 a barrel. Its not inconcievable for gas to now drop slightly. If you fix your price you will be protected from increase but you may not recieve any decrease. Click 5 may increase but as you are not tied in just shop around again. As of today I am going to be energy savvy going forward.
sorry, not a girl either. pls don't hold against me, it was just chromosomes.
