Is it unhealthy to stay with the same company for a long time?
My first job was a part time job at a supermarket just after I turned 16. I stayed there until I started uni whilst some college mates would seemingly change jobs every week. My view was whatever job I'd get as a student would be rubbish, so I may as well stick with the job I've got. I also reluctantly went back during uni…

Not received p45
I left my job a month ago and still haven’t had my p45 back. Keep asking my employer for it and she just says she’s chased it with the accountant. I started a new job today. How long does it usually take for it to be sent after leaving a job?

NI allowance - per week?
Lower limit is £155 a week, 12% above that. So, rough example, on £200 a week, NI is 12% of £45 = £5.40 a week. Three weeks = £16.20. If pay is held back and paid in one week (i.e. £600) then you end up paying more NI? Because you wasted two weeks allowance? i.e. £600-£155 = £445 X 12% = £53.40. Is that right? Few £s…

Annual leave after handing notice
Hey guys, I handed my notice in last week in which I start my new job Feb 12th. The only thing I’m worried about is because I’m leaving, will they only pay me for days incurred ?…

On less pay than colleagues doing exact same job
When offered a job last year, I was told that I would start at the bottom end of the pay scale as I did not have enough experience and they would be employing people with more experience who could help me out at the start. Very quickly, it was apparent that nobody had previous experience of this position (call centre) but…

Sick note
Does anyone know what a genuine sick note looks like? I was shown one today that looks photocopied and had no doctors name, just a squiggle for a signature. I'm unsure if the surgery would discuss with me due to confidentiality so wondered how I can check if its real? It looks like something you could get off the internet.

Wifes lack of NICs
Hi, we recently discovered that my wife's Pension entitlement is going to be severely diminished due to lack of NICS contributions.
