PIP change from 50-20m walking found legal.
At the time of the initial challenge (in 2012), the reduction of distance needed to be able to be moved to gain 12 points was changed with very little consultation from 50-20m. This lead to an initial challenge, which failed. This was then appealed, and it has just been decided the initial consultation was fair. In the…

My esa tribunal won.important points that helped
Hi, i have just had an esa tribunal and won. First off, dont be worried as its only a room with a doctor and judge and court clerk in the corner. You get taken to the room by the clerk when it's your turn. The judge will say hello and introduce him or herself and also the doctor. She put me at ease by explaining that she…

ESA Support Group - what else ...?
i have surprisingly got into the ESA Supprt Group (income related). I was looking around trying to find what other benefits I am eligible for now I'm on ESA. I know I can get free prescriptions, but I assume I just show them the letter when I next need a prescription? My local college runs courses with reduced fees for…

Applying For Pip Whilst Receving JSA
My partner is 60 and has been unemployed for 4 years, and is currently receiving JSA. She has been constantly turned down for jobs because of her poor health, one problem being rheumatoid arthritis, as well as others. I think she should go on to sickness benefit, but I realise this is not as straight forward as it once…

Mobility element of DLA
Hi there, I'm just posting to ask for a little bit of advice with regards to my daughter. My daughter will be three in January. She currently receives the middle rate care rate for her disability. We have obviously not been able to apply for the mobility element for her until she is three. My daughter has cerebral palsy,…

Should I go back to work full time
I am rattling around the house while my son is at school. I have 19 years till I retire. I can always find things to do but feel guilty hubby is earning the lion share and will probably work until he dies or is invalided out. My older son likes it that I am at home when he leaves and returns from school. He doesn't want me…

PIP - claiming 50% car tax reduction
OMG, this is so complicated:eek: Have just been sorting this out for my OH and it is really bizarre. You have to basically fill an application form V10 to tax your vehicle, even though it is already taxed. Then you send it off with the V5C form, MOT, DWP award statement (all originals, not copies) and a cheque for the…

ASD Diagnosis
Hi, I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but it was the only one that mentioned disability. My 4yo DS is in the process of being diagnosed with Autism, he has seen the child psychologist twice and she will be returning this week with a run down of her report, she has told me that he is autistic. She will add this…

The Guardian has reported that Iain Duncan Smith is considering merging personal independence payment (PIP) and employment and support allowance (ESA) into a single benefit or, alternatively, merging the two tests. In an interview on 2 October, IDS told the Guardian: “It is early days in the reform process, but Duncan…

Changing my ESA and PIP application after awarded
Hi all. I have been claiming ESA and PIP since last year due to having a breakdown and getting sectioned because my Bipolar Disorder got the best of me and I had undiagnosed Borderline Personality Disorder. I hate being on benefits (I'm a qualified primary school teacher) but I am literally not well enough at the moment.…

Random payment
I am on DLA, ESA (support) plus SDP. My next pay date is the 6th October (this coming Tuesday). I check my bank account every night around midnight to see what the balance is etc etc. Anyhow tonight there was an extra £40 in! Initially thinking it was from one of my parents I clicked onto the statement bit. Please bear in…

Found another cost for being disabled😡
I use patient transport to get too and from hospital. Just found out their 0845 number to order transport cost me nearly £40 last month on my mobile! They have also refused to give me an alternative number. Another thing to add to the list when people ask " why is being disabled more expensive?"
